It was once again time to travel the Red Dunes of the Kalahari…..
After we landed in Upington on Sunday and some shopping on Monday we finally entered the gates at Twee Revieren late afternoon.
Check in was quick and soon we moved into our home for the next 3 nights.
What a nice surprise, Arks (we already met her in Upington while shopping) was our neighbour.

Unpacking the car, having a quick coffee and soon we were on our way for our first game drive. A short visit to the petrol station, deflating the tires and of we go towards the Rooiputs direction.

It was a quiet afternoon, but we saw our first (of many) Elands in the park.

We slowly drove back to TR and similarly slowly the full moon did rise over Botswana.
Such a beautiful sight!

We were back to our paradise……

30.10.

Well in the morning we had a real surprise when we opened the chalet door.
This was the first sight in the morning
We did not expect that :hmz:

After that surprise we started our game drive not too early.
We slowly made our way to Samevloeiing and checked every tree along the way.
Then just after we had passed the t-junction my heart nearly stopped…
I had spotted something spotted in the old camelthorn tree just before you reach the waterhole.

We stood there, watched the sleeping Leopard, when Francolin said: There is something in the riverbed….
We had a look and thought, yep a Jackal…
Then we had another look and spotted: a Cheetah!

Now we were here with a sleeping Leopard and only a couple of metres away a Cheetah… :slap:

We decided, OK we are going to leave and have a look at the Cheetah and hopefully return back to the Leopard, still in the tree.

When we reached the Cheetah, we discovered that there were in fact 3 Cheetahs, coming from the Botswana side into the riverbed. 8)
We followed them for quite a while before they disappeared into the dunes again.

Then it was time to return back to the sleeping Leopard….

To be continued

Leopard and cheetah - what a great start of your trip!
I think the cheetahs are the ones I saw on my last afternoon in the park. :)

Looking forward to more photos and stories.
