That is a brilliant idea. I fastened my yellow ribbon to my son in laws Landie when we visited kruger for 8 nights during August. To my disappointment I didn,t meet any fellow mites, my S I Law moaned all the time that the ribbon was flapping about and distracting him, so the sock would be just the thing

Hi anabel1,

We did meet fourteen (14) mites during September and was just unbelievable  . I tie my ribbon like shoe laces and it works just fine for the time being  .

We had similar issues. We eventually tied the YR over the mirror to create what I thought looked akin to the Swedish flag (a yellow cross over a blue mirror).

At first we didn't want to fly the yellow ribbon on our trip, but now we have too many mites who will be just before or after us whom we'll meet somewhere between "niks en nêrens" (in the middle of nowhere).
So it's been agreed that we'll have our Yellow Ribbon on the mirror WAY before Upington. Will probably put it on at Kuruman? We'll see. So if you're travelling through the Northern Cape from 13 to 23 December, look out for a Terios with a YR. 8) We'll happily stop next to the road if need be to chat, that's what we're doing with those that asked to meet up with us already.

Hi GP

We always fly our YR and often had to stop next to the road and reverse. We even forgot to take off our ribbon and stopped at a garage in Pretoria, where someone walked over to us to say hi. He was also a forum member (sorry cant remember his name) So I tend to leave my ribbon a bit on after our visit. On our last visit we putted it on at the airport and took it off at the airport 3 weeks later when we returned our rental    We just LOVE our YR

Matthys, you're evil.

We are thinking of doing the whole trip with the YR. On the second half we'll be in a Sedan we're borrowing, but it might be fun to see how many quiet mites we meet in KZN....

We displayed a YR on during trip last month ( 8th to 21st October ) ,and during the whole time we were there , we only met one other 'mite , namely Martie Goddard . She had on her YR on as usual , but sadly , we did not meet even one other 'mite
Well , at least if there were any 'mites , then  they did not have YR's on their vehicles

I was in Kruger the weekend of 20 October Okie-sorry we didn't run into each other man :slap:
I had a heksie made YR on... Some mites new it was me when they saw it :D
I met, Leachy, Sparrow, Cheetah 2111 and Gerharddb.
I did find a car at Skukuza with a YR and I left a message on their windscreen as I didn't know who they were but no message yet... Still don't know who they are :slap:

I will have a superbious heksie made YR with my next trip and there is NO WAY that anyone will miss this one

roaneric is getting the idea with So I tend to leave my ribbon a bit on after our visit, but why for such a short period? :hmz:

Keep your YR on and you will be surprised how many mites will stop and chat wherever you are (mall, garage, driving, even office (the inconspicuous colleagues who sit near you and you didn't even know they were mites!))

Give it a try. You don't have to be  !

It won't damage your car and often strangers walk up to you to find out about it, and are fascinated by the stories you tell

Great way to meet interested and interesting people :hello:
