Another spider, Incy Wincy, ate some sauerkraut
And wondered what all the fuss was about
Cabbage wasn't his favourite veg
Nor the pungent garden hedge
So Incy and all his neighbours enjoyed the meal, no doubt!

The porcupine faced up to the Lion
Who was terrified at the thought of dyin'
So he made out his will
Which amounted to stomach contents plus nil
And I see this limerick only OWN is buyin"

A sigh, a sunset, and a pale pink cocktail
and a braai fire in Kruger with my favourite male
the sounds of the bush as it gets dark
The cackle of hyaena and a distant jackal bark
and the moon rising silvery and pale

A snake in the thatch
Can a hundred babies hatch
each one exactly like Dad
One-thirtieth as long, but just as bad
all a perfect match

The little hippos were having some fun
Seeing how fast on the bottom they could run
They twisted and they twirled
Their cute jaws unfurled
There is nothing so exciting as cute little hippos having fun in the sun!

It was getting dark and mother Hippo was worried
Where was junior? Just then something scurried.
Ahh! It was only a mouse
Sprinting wildly through the house
And worried Mom hippo steps grew hurried.

They said there would be no direct through routes
If there wasn't would you toot on your flutes?
I would sing and dance and shout Horay
when it all happens one day
What they do, is not what they always say

Time to start thinking what was in the mine,
Was it a rabbit, a hare or a porcupine?
prickles or furry you'll find out
Short, or fat or thin or stout
and just hope it's mood is benign

Mrs Ellie went Christmas shopping
Looking for special treats to put in the stocking
Chocolates and biscuits and fresh mopani leaves....
she had a few surprises up her sleeves
With this the Christmas festivities has begun.

Will there be something new on the menu?
And will they be celebrating at a new venue?
The lions and leopards from all around
Couldn't wait for the festivities to get off the ground
They wanted to taste a good burgoo
thick spicy stew of whatever meat and whatever vegetables are available;

"Happy Holidays!" said the lion
While children blew the seeds of the dandelion
The parents watched as the children played
And reminded them when they too were of a lower grade
which set the Lion in rememberance sighin

The day after Christmas, the turkey said
"I'm one of the lucky ones I've still got my head"
I'm not covered in gravy and served on a plate
So happy being gobbled up was not my fate
and next I'll be too tough to be someones spread
