Hi All,

Will be in Shingwedzi and Siheni in early Jan for a couple of nights, hugely excited as my last trip was about 18 years ago.

2 quick questions:

1. What are the 5 sleeper cottages 2 singles and 3 beds in loft like? any recommendations here?
2. Has anyone had any luck with the long s50/s106 loop? Not sure if it has a name, is it worth it?

Thanks

I stayed in the 5 a few years ago. Comfortable, but not flash. We enjoyed it.

My family stayed in one of the 5 bedded bungalows last year and found them to be fine for what they needed, there were 3 beds downstairs and 2 up in the loft.
The ladder up to the loft is quite steep so would not recommend the elderly or not too agile to attempt it, especially coming down in the dark!
But for the youngsters its fine!

We drove all the way up the S50 called the Dipeni Road, from Mopani Camp, in Feb this year and altho we didn't see a lot of animals, loved the peace and quiet of the road, think we only saw 3 other cars the entire length.
There is a wonderful view site called Shibavantsengela Lookout that gives one an amazing view of miles and miles of the park.
We had a enjoyable time parked up on the Grootvlei dam wall, watching 2 ellies having a bath and play time in the water.
Enjoy.

Everytime I have slept in Shingwedzi, the only room I have slept in was the 5 Bed Bunglow, and yes as Elsa said it is 3 on the main floor and 2 on the loft, and I will also back Elsa's theory of no elderly people should try sleeping on the loft as it sure is dangerous. It is perfect for youngsters.

The s50 and s106 are a bit of a hit and miss as with all the loops in the North. It is all about The right place at the right time. I have had Lion sightings on all the different routes up North. Just follow your heart.

Enjoy you Trip :gflower:

Definitely no oldsters sleeping in the loft.

Not because the steps up are too steep, but because in summer it is HOT HOT HOT up there  :D

I love Shing. A real old-fashioned Kruger camp with some amazing scenery and loads of feathered and fury creatures.

I was just wandering... if the Punda and Shingwedzi had follow up rain... I saw on Accu weather that they forecasted heavy rain for today... Does any one knows if it is true?

Hi guys.

I dont particularly know about rain in the Park, but since I am from Thohoyandou, yes, there has been very heavy rain for the past few days.
