MM, what with 'redundant' tent poles, you should write a book entitled Camping 101 - how not to do it.

Like the time I took camping novices to Croc Bridge.

We had trouble getting the pegs into the very hard ground.

"Not a problem", MM thought, "our weight will keep everything down.

The final night we had a gale of gales.    I wondered at some point whether I might have my tent ripped out from under me.

The tents all survived.. thanks no doubt due to our weight and the gin and tonics of my companions.

My brand new gazebo was no where to be found..... it was sitting on top of a tree.

Needless to say, that was one of my most expensive camping purchases ever. If I had to calculate its daily worth... R250/day :( :( :( :(

This was a stupid thing someone else did which we saw on our last trip...but we had to laugh!

We were heading out of Letaba on the river road one afternoon, cruising along at 30kph, minding our own business when coming towards us I see a little sedan with someone sitting on the window ledge of the passenger side hanging out the car!!

I was getting worked up and muttering stuff about law breakers ..... as the car drew closer and came level with us it was 'revealed' that the person who was hanging out the window was female and in case we weren't sure she was naked from the waist up and gave a good side to side chest wiggle as they zoomed past!!!

I was so taken aback that I didn't know whether to curse angrily or laugh my head off. I turned to SO in the passenger seat (who was looking rather bemused) and said 'Blimey (or words to that effect) what kind of sighting do you call that?'. To which he replied dead pan, ' twin white pointers!'
'Crikey (or words to that effect) white pointers in Kruger, must be a first, put it in the sightings book!'

Are we the only ones to have sighted white pointers in KNP? :hmz:

I think people should silently and quietly thoroughly enjoy themselves when in Kruger but they should not be too happy or else you get something like this

One day on the Letaba Stoep I was standing with my back to the river side facing the bedroom side of the Rondavel busy packing, unpacking and re-arranging our food stuff from the floor to the table to the fridge and my T-shirt left part of my back open from bending down and one of the Bokkies suddenly pressed her cold wet nose against by back where it was bare  @$%*. I forgot about the Bokkies in Letaba and their tendency to silently tiptoe up onto a person.

Hugh, I can just imagine how uncomfortable you must have felt with those two!
