I vowed never to do another trip report, as I normally do not blabber too much on the forums.
But, I think I need to encourage everyone to head up to the borders of Zimbabwe,Botswana and RSA, at least once in their life !!
Mapungubwe is special, do not compare to other bigger parks when going, appreciate it's own beauty.

I popped in for 3 nights, to get a bit of peace and quiet, in the bush.

We had recently sold the caravan, so treated ourselves to a family unit in Leokwe.
The camp was very quiet 8)

We got to experience balmy 42 degree plus temperatures, but the camp pool is an ideal spot to cool down.

Looking down on the rest of the camp , from the viewing deck next to the pool.

The camp is unfenced, we saw Kudu, eland, zebra ,baboon ,waterbuck ,genet ,impala ,blue wildebeest, klipspringer all from within the camp.

Baobab welcoming guests to Leokwe.

Showering is great for those who are not shy.

I forgot to mention there are also dassies to be seen on the rocks!

Image
The 2 family units are awesome, and are away from the rest of the camp, with lovely views.

Image
The large spotted genets make their appearance as the sun goes down. They would leave their paw prints all over the braai area, once we had gone to bed.

Getting back to the excitement of my enthralling trip report

Image
This Cape clawless Otter was spotted by my son, from the hide.
Image
It looked like it was hiding in plain sight.

Viewing platforms were visited.

The lovely Mrs Gump :k :k

You may alight from your vehicle at own risk to walk to the confluence lookout. You will not end up in the gallery of shame by doing this. For that you need to protrude from your vehicle in an area declared unsafe to do so.
At Mapungubwe the lions have been told to leave tourists alone at the confluence, as they are obeying the rules

Leopard food is abundant in the park.

Whilst looking at a Black Eagle soaring on the left , I spotted this up on the right.

Ok those of you who thought it was a baboon were wrong...

It was a male leopard surveying his kingdom.
Image

I put the camera away, as he was moving off, he then got dive bombed by the Black Eagle. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

We also encountered evidence of bygone eras, besides the well known ruins.

Looks like the Rhodesian Light Infantry visited at some stage.

Dear GF,
I keep on congratulating you on your sightings - this time for your Leopard sighting  I also like the little klippie and then the handsome "gumpie" with his beautiful Gemsbok Horns

You visited the Park end of September - and this is how the tree (that you posted) that welcomes visitors to Leokwe Camp looked the end of October:

One cannot believe what a little bit of rain can do :D

I am waiting for the next surprise

Phillip1 , you can stop the whistling now.

Not a great photo, but what a sighting if you a Kruger regular.
Saw a total of 3 Bat eared foxes

Mapungubwe is full of lush green valleys.

They need to upgrade their viewing deck though, my wife thought she was going to cash in my life insurances, when the plank gave way under my petite weight.
