Hélène Kruger trip August 12 - 28, Oct '2012

Unread postby Hélène » Sat Oct 20, 2012 6:28 pm

After visiting Kruger for the first time in August 2010 we we're hooked and decided to visit again in August this year. We stayed at Lower Sabie, Skukuza, Satara and Letaba. Although we LOVED our first trip, the second trip was even better, we saw 4 leopards, 6 cheetahs and LOTS of lions.

I'll start with some photos from our stay at Lower Sabie, August 12 - 15.

Road block, driving from LS to Crocodile Bridge early morning.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments! :D

After staying at LS for 3 nights we moved to Skukuza for 3 nights. We stayed in one of the guest cottages in Skukuza. At night we had bushbabies in the trees in front of our bungalow. :D

These photos were all taken during our stay at Skukuza.
We loved visiting Lake Panic.

After a wonderful stay in Skukuza we moved to Satara and stayed there from August 18-21. Just like two years ago we were lucky to see different lions sighting on the S100! :D We saw parts of the megapride but not the whole pride together. Other highlights of our stay at Satara were three cheetahs on the S41, LIT, our first Sable Antelope and African Wild Cat in camp every night.

These lion pictures were all from the S100.

Thanks for the comments all! :D

Heksie, I was in Kruger for 12 days.

After we spent 3 nights at Satara we left Kruger to visit the Sabi Sands for a few nights. We stayed at Elephant Plains lodge and the highlight of our stay was seeing two 8 week old leopard cubs at their den site. I believe I'm not allowed to post pictures if they are not taken in kruger but if you want to see some pics of the leopard cubs check my flickr site:

On August 24 we entered Kruger again through Orpen gate. We stayed at Letaba for the last three nights of our stay. We didn't go that far North on our first trip. Although sightings were less in that area we were very lucky to see cheetahs on the H9 and we had an amazing sighting of bathing ellies at Sable Dam

After spending 12 nights in Kruger we sadly had to leave. On our last day we drove from Satara to Orpen gate with a little detour to the S100-S41-S90. We were lucky to see three more cheetahs on the s41. They were bedded down under a tree and too far away to get good shots. We stayed for a bit hoping they would wake up, but we were running out of time as we had to catch our plane in Nelspruit.

We had an amazing trip with some awesome sightings. We will be back!!! :D :D :D
