Absolutely! Great sighting.

I found the following information on Wikipedia:

The black rhino is smaller than the white rhino and has a pointed and prehensile upper lip, which it uses to grasp leaves and twigs when feeding. The white rhinoceros has square lips used for eating grass. The black rhinoceros can also be distinguished from the white rhinoceros by its size, smaller skull, and ears; and by the position of the head, which is held higher than the white rhinoceros, since the black rhinoceros is a browser and not a grazer. This key differentiation is further illustrated by the shape of the two species mouths (lips): the "square" lip of the white rhinoceros is an adaptation for grazing, and the "hooked" lip of the black rhinoceros is an adaptation to help browsing.

Hope that helps you spot your next Blackie :D

Hi I took some pics on our recent trip to Kruger and I am now going through them trying to ID the various animal we saw the I have to that have me confused. Unfortunate the pics are not clear which is probably the reason I am having such and issue figure out what they are....ok I am blaming dodgy pics but truth be told I am a Newbie in our great parks and I just have no clue half the time. :) but I am trying to learn.

This little guy was in the bushes near Transport dam, oh we were at Kruger from 26 Sept till 8 Oct not sure of that helps but you never know.

At the time I thought it was a Dik dik but after comparing it to another clear dik dik pic I googled I can see its not. The face has some sort of what i can only guess is a gland or horn on the side between the eye and nose and after googling I am wondering if it's a Suni? Never heard of that before but that face and tail coloring look very much like the google images.

What do you think?

Also this chap we saw under the bridge going in the Malelane gate, he was trying to get near a water hole to drink but was so nervous, better photo but no idea what he is.

These guys were at Shitihave dam and I thought they were Kudu at the time but now I am not sure...are they maybe young Nyala? Or was Kudu the correct guess?

img

Last and again a really really bad pic but hubby thinks this chap is a Steenbok but I am not sure.

Thank you for the help, sorry about the bad pics but I swear they do not all look like this...lol, in my defense it's a new camera and I did not have time to play with it, that said even if I had chances are they would still have been bad. Lol

Trentonskeeper, Ndloti is indeed correct with the first image - very young kudu bull
I stand by the other three though

Trentonskeeper - my guesses at your antelope are the following:
1 Common (Grey) Duiker
2. Bushbuck (young male)
3. Greater Kudu (Young Male)
4. Nyala (female)
