I could not find any topic on counting down to KTP, but only a thread for KNP and decided to start a new thread. Anyone planning a trip to KTP can add there days and we more or less will know who you will bump into in the park. Another thought is to add the route you will be taking as there is many queries around the route.

OK let me then start off.

I still got 36 days to go before leaving for KTP.

First stop might be Twee Rivieren (23 June) and then from there on we will go to Nossob (24 - 27 June) and Mata-Mata (27 - 29 June and 10 - 13 July).

This year we want to try the Kuruman, Hotazel, VanZylsrus route, enter Botswana at Middelputs and either exit at Twee Rivieren or Bokspits. Will let you know if this is a good option instead of following the N14 until Upington.

That a long wait, but at least you still getting the KTP sand out of your car and shoes. Great sighthings you had in May.

I started to count, but ran out of fingers and toes! MAY 2013!! Just waiting confrmation of our reservation deposit! So excited already and have even started my shopping list!

Booked and deposit paid for September 2013 (16th-26th)!!!! Only just over 11 months to wait but already have at least two KNP trips booked before then so time will go quickly. It is true, once you have experienced KTP you just have to keep going back there!

My next visit only in March 2013, so ticking months not days

My excitement and anticipation (page has changed to frustration - we will be in the Grootkolk area when about 50 support vehicles will be using the same narrow road as us, due to some event taking place then. We were not warned about the event when booking - we could have chosen any dates in September 2013. In KTP 4 vehicles are considered a traffic jam - how will the narrow dirt roads cope with more than 50??

Am considering cancelling the booking and going somewhere else.

After much soul-searching and discussion, we have decided to cancel our KTP trip in September 2013 - don't want to go so far, spend so much money and get caught up in the bicycle event.

We will be "doing" the Northern and Eastern Cape National Parks - Mokala, Karoo, Camdeboo, Addo and Mountain Zebra. Very excited as we have only been to Mokala before (I went to Addo but hubby hasn't been there).

KTP might be on the agenda for 2014 - can't stay away too long!

Hippotragus, what was your itinerary in KTP in Sept 2013? ........I would like an option of taking up the cancellations
