How many cheetahs have you seen?

Unread postby onewithnature » Tue Oct 09, 2012 4:32 am

I've generally found that, in Kruger, I see just over half as many cheetah sightings as I do leopard. Not sure why this is - perhaps it's the areas I'm frequenting, but even in suitable areas I find that cheetah is spotted less than its rosetted cousin. In Kgalagadi, the opposite is true - I see more cheetah than leopard.

After this last trip, my sightings have increased to 33. :D

Would love to have the input of others as to how many cheetah you've seen.

KTP way more than what we've ever seen in Kruger. December 2010 we saw Fifteen different cheetahs on one day in Kgalagadi.

Kruger in total 8...........

Don't have the faintest idea how many we've seen over the years in Kgalagadi, but it must be over a hundred??? :hmz:

I think maybe we were lucky Spargish, but we saw nearly 12 sightings in one day in the Kgalagadi.

I think we can all agree there is a much higher chance of cheetahs at KTP

Spargs we are almost exact opposites  You say 5 leopards and 12+ cheetahs. for me its 11+leopard and 3 cheetah! In Kruger. And we stay in more or less the same areas :?

Agree that KTP is the place to see cheetahs - my best is 32 sightings in 7 days - don't know how many in total as I cannot remember what I saw way back in 1983

Only remember 4 in KNP - 2 near Pretoriuskop and 2 near Lower Sabie.

But then I've been to KTP many more times than Kruger.
