Can you do a self catering bush braai? We have special dietary requirements

You can do a self-catering bush braai at any picnic spot during the day. The special bush braais offered from the camps are only available catered by the restaurants in association with the camps. If you have special dietary requirements they would take these into account.

Hi there helpful Mites 8)
I am interested to know your experiences of Bush Braais at the various camps :D It would be helpful for visitors staying at many camps, to know where to book a bush braai :D

In addition, what is the minimum number of people in a bush braai? Could two guests go on a bush braai for instance?
Thanks in advance

I think different camps use different areas. BnD was using a site out in the bush recently, but will now use the day picnic area. I believe Lower Sabie use Mlondozi picnic area mostly. Best to ask the camp/gate for more information.

We have always wanted to do a bush braai, but the details never worked out. In November we will bringing several 1st timers to South Africa and decided to book a bush braai from Olifants camp. The booking was extremely easy. I called Olifants reception and told them the date and the number of people in our group. They added the braai to our existing reservation and everything is handled.

I then received a request from Forumite Flying Cheetah who saw that we will be in the Berg en Dal area later in the trip. He has always wanted to do a bush braai but could not get the required minimum number of people and asked if anyone from our group was interested in joining him on a braai. Of course we all agreed. I called Berg en Dal reception and again the booking was very easy.

It is a bit pricey at R490 pp, but from all that I have read, it is a small price to pay for an unforgettable experience.

I will update the thread with our experience once we return in mid-December.

Daron

Daron, from what other people say, the food is delicious and plentiful..........add that to the evening drive experience and that's got to be well worth it!!

We're hoping to do one from Phala Gate when my daughter and SO are with us.
