I think they could, but don't think they will, PJL (and I agree with stevenjm). Please read here :

I've also noticed, Addo gives us lots of action, but not every day, more like every second day.
Is there another waterhole nearby or does ellies not need to drink everyday? - I thought they have to drink everyday.
What does the forumies say?

There are plenty of waterholes in Addo - all within easy reach for the herds. If you take a look at the main game area map (see http://www.sanparks.org/images/parks/maps/main-game-colchester-area-map.jpg), you'll see that Rooidam and Gwarrie Pan are very close by. Harpoor Dam is a very popular spot for Addo Ellies, so when you're not seeing them at the main camp waterhole for days on end, it's very likely that there will be plenty around that area of the park.

Thanx PJL, thanx for the great map.
Now I can picture in my mind where the ellies are when they dont visit the webcam.

I grew up in the Eastern Cape and only went to Addo ONCE  - will have to plan a trip!!

You'll enjoy it for sure! Addo has probably changed a lot depending when you were last there. The game area has been extended down to Colchester, as well as the re-introduction of native predator species :D

Take a look here if you'd like to get a better picture of what Addo has to offer now
