Good Morning Everyone.

I came back from a fantastic 10 days in Kruger. Got 5 species that I saw that aren't clear to me... Wondering if anyone can confirm my sucpicions?

I believe that this guy is an African Firefinch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, fully brown back clinches this one as an African Firefinch.

Hi DB,

I'll go out on a limb here and give these a go.

African (Bluebilled) Firefinch - Grey head and brown wings).

Hope I'm right on these, so please feel free to correct me if not (and give pointers).

Barcud.

Thanks for your help Barcud - I never thought how difficult ID'ing those little things could be

Nice birdies, anne-marie!

#1 - those firefinches are tricky ones. I think, because of the darker feathers on the head, that yours may be an African firefinch, rather than the Jameson's (and perhaps a female?), but hope one of the fundis will confirm.

You're correct on all three the other birds.

***EDIT***
Actually, I might have been hasty with the first one. I think Arks might be correct in that it is a female African Firefinch.
