According to Roberts VII, there are an estimate of 250 Secretary Birds in the Kruger National Park.

Interesting that! I seriously doubt there are more than 50 in KNP - maybe only even 20-30 if that. Would be interesting to no for sure though!

Looks like he needs a visit to the stylist for a comb and blow dry!

Today, while driving north to Punda Maria from Shingwedzi, we came across a Secretary Bird and a Tawny Eagle walking side by side through the bush. It was the oddest sight! Neither one seemed to have made a kill, and both wandered together for over a half hour, before getting far enough from the road that we lost sight of them.

We saw Secretary birds on a few occasions this August/September - will have to get out the sightings book to check where we saw them.

Stunning pics! They really are photogenic aren't they?

I looked back at our sightings book but we only recorded one of our sightings :slap: on the S37.

In 2010 we recorded a sighting on the Shimuwini private road.

We didn't realise they were so uncommon in Kruger.
