I had my best sightings between the Hippo pools turnoff and the Biyamiti bridge. Lions 3 times and a big pack of wild dogs Can't remember any spectacular sightings near BnD on this road.

We always but always travel this road when down south. Maybe luck but we saw everything except wild dogs on this road over the years. We beleive in take time see all and it always pays off. Yes there is stretches that is boring but then turn your attention to insects and whala!!! something intresting pops up Normally 80% of the time we travel this route early morning or just in time to get back to BND or CB. And at least 3 of the big 5 will be seen. I am almost sure as far as my memory can take me on each visit to the park over 5 or 6 days either in Crock Bridge or BND and we travel the S25 we found all but the wild dogs. Once we camped at BND and the neigbours camping next to us told us they saw a Caracal on this road. I WISH!! to see one after 15 years not even one yet, anyway back to the S25 - Excitement just be patient one day almost nothing but then the next day

Personally I never had particularly good sightings on the S25, but I still love driving that road.
Although the S26 can be very quite (most of the time) I have had some good sightings on that road.
I saw my first honey badger (one of only two that I saw in the park) on the S26, two southern reedbuck (of only 8 that I have seen in the park) and wild dogs.

The S25 is far better for game viewing than the S26.
The S25 has become good for lions over the last year or so. Wild dogs are seen there too.
And sometimes leopard luck is on your side
I have seen Black Rhino there twice
and I even have an old photo of a pangolin we saw there when I was tiny! It is a scenic road viewing the Croc River.

It have been said a zillion times before, there are no absolute good roads and/or bad roads.
It is being at the right place at the right time.

When I am in Lower Sabie I was thinking of driving the southern circle in the morning between LS and CB and then a loop of S25, S26, S102 and H5 afterwards before heading back to LS.

By the sound of it this second loop is a tad hit and miss, but think I will drive it as it looks scenic and is a different to the central regions I will have driven on previous days - Mpondo dam also looks attractive!

I finally found the old pic my dad took in 1995 on this road. I was only 6 years old at the time. I remember my dad making a big fuss about the sighting and I didn't understand why

I once drove east along the S25 and saw spotted hyaena, black-backed jackal, lion, wild dogs, cheetah and leopard, in that order. All of them right on the road.

Hi All,

One of the drives I am planning on doing next week is the S25 along the Crocodile River.
I have heard that the view is spoilt by views across outside of the reserve with farming etc.
Is this true for the entire drive?
Or just small sections?

Hi yoda.

It is just small parts of the road, but there are some really great sightings you can see there, and there have been people who has spotted the entire Big 5 on one drive on the s25, so do not miss out. It is fab road, but there are points when the outside world spoils it a bit.

Thanks. I will have to do that drive at least once.

Can often also be spoilt by sightings of wild dog, lion, leopard, rhino, hyena and African hawk eagles in my experience.
