Perfect for two couples, much more space than the bd3u's,yes seperate on-suite rooms, i did post some pictures in the accomodation thread.Only draw back are the construction taking place next door, but if you are going out early and come back late it's not a problem, they are obviously behind on schedule as they were working on sunday and on the public holiday !

Hi All
Does anyone have a view on which are the best LST2U safari tents insofar as location is concerned. We have reserved two for next year and would like adjacent sites. From the map it would appear that 16 and 17 are good?

Hi John,
Have you seen the view from number 27 ?
We were in #19 recently and although we loved it there :D , I think #20 had a slightly better view.
I actually think them all to be great !

Hi Kirsty & Rooikat

As far as I understand an LST2 tent is a tent not suitable for disabled people and without river view. Nr. 15 is one of the best if you booked this since it is at the fence on the western side of camp.

LST2Z are units without river view and suitable for disabled people. I'm not sure about the bust unit for this type

Only the units where there is a "U" in the code have river view. So LST2U will have river view but not suitable for the disabled. Nr. 27 is a very good option.

LST2ZU are suitable for the disabled and have river view. Here the best option is definitely nr. 21. If you can't get 21, 22 is also not bad. But it depends on the code / type of unit you booked.

SO if there is a "Z" in the code it is suitable for the disabled and a "U" is for river view.

We stayed in nr. 21 last Thursday and it was great. We wanted to have 27, but since we booked the last tent available it was an LST2UZ so there is only 3 or 4 units with this code and 21 was one of them. Under Lower Sabie's "Camp Home" site you can view a map of the camp. Sorry don't know how to create a link. (avialability, kruger national park, lower sabie, camp home, on the right side of screen map

Game viewing was excellent. We had 7 different lion sightings on the H4-1 in the 3 days and 2 on the H4-2. The H4-1 was by far the best road to drive. Sure it's because it's very dry currently and the Sabie river is one of very view water suppliers now.

Enjoy.

Hi Pamelajane

The BD2U's have all the same view on the river - and a fantastic view too :D. We have stayed in a BD3U a month ago, in nr 20. I think that the BD2U's start at approximately nr 23 or 25. If I remember correctly, the BD3U's come first and further down, eastwards, the BD2U's. :hmz: I am not 100% sure. Phone reception and the friendly people there will confirm the numbers of the BD2U's.

The BD3U's and the BD2U's are great accommodation - enjoy

I have not seen any complaints about tent number 29, NicoleCT.

Please see Carolv's post :
Quote:
Our tent (number 29) had a lovely view across the river and we opted to settle down on the verandah with a cold beer rather than going back out again in the car. We had lots of birds around us and particularly enjoyed the company of a Heuglins Robin and its youngster.
:D

Hi NicoleCT,

I booked 28 & 29 during my visit last year. SO and I stayed in 29 and it was perfect! No noise, lights etc from the restaurant area whatsoever. Only problem was a mouse gnawing away at something in our bathroom during the night....

It's close to the fence, reeds and water's edge and offers great views over the river. We followed a civet along the fence with our torches the one night, when it suddenly darted away. Scared off by a hyena! Was amazing!

You have nothing to worry about!

We have just stayed at Lower Sabie in a BD2U -they all appear to have wonderful views of the river. We were in 81 but No 76 looks the best from what I could see (only that it had better furnishings) -i tried to get it but had no luck! If you look at the accommodation thread there are photos taken of some BD2U. We LOVED Lower Sabie

Hi All,

Maybe a silly question, but how do some of you book specific tents or units, by number?

I generally book my accomodation online and there is no facility for it there.

Do you call the camps themselves or do you do this through calling one of the SANparks offices?

Many thanks in advance for any help with this. I have always been happy with allocated accomodation in LS, but would love to book a unit with a good river view for a future visit.

Eights weeks to push until next in LS!
Regards,
iedman

The usual procedure is to send a fax to the resevation manager and give a request of 2 or 3 units you would like to stay in. This is usually done 2 - 3 weeks before your accommodation dates.

I have never been disappointed, and have always received my first request.

Good luck and have a wonderful experience

Sorry iedman, forgot to mention that the fax is to be sent direct to the camp you will be staying at.

Good luck
