I had a real bad experience this morning while entering the park. The sanpark employee was busy with my entry permit when some of the visitor behind me started verbally attacking the employee. They wanted to exit the park and as part of the new procedure you have go into the office. The poor employee just tried to explain that he must just do his work and cannot do as he pleases.

I lost my temper and shouted at the visitors to just let the man do his job. I myself don’t like the new procedure but it is not the poor guy working at the gate fault. I must apologise for shouting back at the angry exiting visitors.

What is the reason for the new procedure and can’t it be stream lined a bit?
What a bad start to my day. Fortunately after traveling 500m we saw buffalo and all was forgotten!

Yes it is. We have used Phabeni, Numbi, Croc and Kruger gates in the last few weeks and it was the same at all the gates.

Maybe it's because of the recent incidents with vehicles not exiting the park when they should.

We use the Phala Gate, so will be interested to know if the same applies there. :hmz:

It is because of guests trying to stay extra nights in camping areas particularly, or trying to get extra folk in. To ensure that all conservation fees and accommodation fees have been paid the exit permit can now only be issued by the last camp stayed in on the afternoon before departure or the morning of departure. It is really no different to checking out of a hotel.

But why must you go into the office at the gate?

If you did not get the exit permit from your last camp you need to go to the office so the computer records can be checked. If you got the exit permit from the last camp you will not need to go into the office. The security folk will just take the exit permit and let you go.

So day visitors should never have to go into the office at the gate?

That seems to be the case, from what EJ has explained.................just seems that if you don't have an exit permit you need to visit the office, but I thought that was always the case, so I'm a bit confused now.
( Doesn't take much to confuse this old tannie!!)

I am sure if you didn't have your exit permit from last camp you would have needed to go into the office at the gate even before Val, sure that is what had happened in the incident KTM KWAGGA experienced.

Tannie Val, I also thought it was always the case. Since I can remember before leaving the park my dad and nou me always went into the office at the gate when we left.

Strange! as we have never had to go into the office, merely showed our permit with exit permit from last camp attached and we were let out.
As day visitors, also shown our entrance permit and no probs.

As posted above, exit permit means your passport has been stamped and you can leave without going into the gate office.
I left via Phabeni yesterday, without any delays at the gate.
