Well, I think I owe all of you a bit of an explanation.

A few of you may know that at roughly October time last year my YFS partner, Vinkie, and I took over organising the Your Favourite Sightings thread. In the chaos of it all, I forgot something very important. October is when we have our annual selection!!!!

And yes, it has taken me this long to realise...

BUT, all is not lost.

I have trawled through the 2010-11 YFS thread and.... have found all the pics (excluding rhinos) we need for a belated annual selection

Please allow me to explain how this will work. Our first preliminary round will be posted tonight. I felt preliminary rounds would be better than having to go through 36 pics and select your favourites.

Tonight's shortlist will consist of the 12 sightings that finished third in their respective months. Three of these will go through to the final.

You guys will have three days to vote, with the final tally being announced on Monday 6th August. On Monday night I will post the second and last preliminary round. This will consist of the 12 pictures that came second in their respective months. Five of these will progress to the final. The result of this preliminary round will be announced on Thursday 9th August.

All 12 pictures that came first in their month will go directly into the final.

I hope that with the mods' permission and a little technical know-how the final will be posted in a different format. It will resemble the polls we see across the forums. The final will be posted on Thursday 9th August. Watch this thread for updates on where this will be posted!

I can scarcely believe that YFS has made it almost three years and survived. It started out as such an inconsequential idea and I never dreamed more thn one or two mites would take an interest in it. My sincerest, most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has voted on the YFS over the years. Furthermore, I would like to thank the 'mites who have looked after the thread over the years. I have often been away from the forums and their dedication has put me to shame.

Haileyidaho, JoyceW, Jungle Junkie, Kamadejo, Lionspoon, Sylvia. C, Toko and Vinkie - thankyou so so much! I must have left someone out so let me know who you are!

Just to confirm: the preliminary rounds will follow normal YFS format... just post your favourites under the selection!
