Yes, most of the DSLR's these days do HD video... what's wrong with you guys

Seriously though, I am trying to build a collection of this kind of material. At the moment I have African and Bufffy pipit film clips. It would be great to one day have a resource that people can look at and learn from the behavioural characteristics. If there are any keen birders/pipitologist who would like to host such a collection I would gladly contribute just pm me, to arrange drop-box transfer as these files are big.

Maurice, please try to don't post so many pictures of the same birds (often identic)... very difficult to open these so interesting thread

Not a lark-like bunting... but some sort of bishop, probably southern red.

Thanks, JvR, that hadn't occured to me, since I've never (knowingly) seen one in KNP, but then when they're not in their breeding colours, you don't really notice them!

LLB would REALLY have been a weird sighting considering the distribution maps.

As far as the "bishop" goes... I will definitely not stake a cent on that ID.

BTW, it may be a female bird, in which case breeding colours means zip.

Interestingly, the map in my Newman's shows northern KNP as within the LLB's distribution area, and I thought that the birdie looked a bit more like that than the female whydahs that I also considered. But then, it may just have to remain yet another of my "mystery" LBJs

Arks, The tail is way too short for a LLB. Ive searched every where the only one I could find was a Red-billed Quelea female. If you google, images red-billed Queleas the first bird on page four looks alike,I think.

Thanks, Ladybirder! I think that it being a female redbilled quelea (which I'd also not thought of ) is reasonably likely, as while I didn't see any quelea in that immediate area, there were a LOT of them around in the park during my April visit.

Can anyone ID this bird for me? Seen in Kruger on the road between Satara and Tshokwane in June. I thought it might be a Red-capped Lark although i can't clearly see the red shoulders. I'm sorry, its rather a poor pic, and cropped.

Salamanda, from what I can see, it looks more like a Cisticola to me.

But without a better angle, it will be really difficult to tell which one though. Rattling Cisticola is by far the most abundant so it could very well be a Rattling.

I'm with DotDan here. I would say it is a Rattling Cisticola.
