Evita's Bossie Sikelela

Unread postby arks » Sat Jul 28, 2012 8:07 pm

Following on the success of her prize-winning first cookbook, Evita's Kossie Sikelela, which has already sold over 70,000 copies. the ever-resourceful Evita Bezuidenhout has written a second cookbook, which features recipes gathered on her travels, including many designed specifically for cooking on safari. The illustrations are delicious and so are Evita's recipes!

I am a great follower of Tannie Evita and have many of her books. I recently gave my daughter a "Blackbessie" for her birthday. One never knows these days when a contact might be needed.

My only regret is that I cannot vote for Tannie Evita. I have often listened to her sage advise in times of crisis. When the new government took over and Bapetikosweti was no longer a shining beacon of good governance, I thought we might not need her any more.

Indeed, governments change, people don't. I will most certainly look into tannies book. If it is anything like her Blackbessie planner, it should be filled with sound, sensible advise.

A bit more about Bossie:
"In Evita’s Bossie Sikelela, Evita — acclaimed chef and icon of the nation — presents her recipes for delicious dishes gathered on travels in South Africa and around the world.

"From the Cape to Limpopo, the West Coast to our president’s home province, come divine platefuls: guineafowl with prunes, potroasted quail, quince bredie and orange duck. Pofadders, oxtail and even sweet and sour warthog.

"Evita reinvents old favourites, and deliciously prepares veldkos – who would have thought of waterblommetjie chicken or dandelion salad for the dinner table? Each recipe has been tested and vetted, and they’re all ridiculously easy to make." — source

And it's also in Afrikaans as Evita se Bossie Sikelela :D
