We visited Tshanga a couple of weeks back, and thought it wasn't a get out point anymore....

The path up grown over, and really no sign of recent visits up on the rocks. The benches are gone (due to way too many request for new ones, and fights like "Why theirs and not ours?") so we were puzzled.
Was it still allowed to walk up, or not?

But we went up anyway, I'll upload the photos soon.

On coming back we found the manager in his car, preparing to send/receive messages, and he assured us that it was still perfectly legal to go up.
So if you are there, just follow the little trail, even if it's overgrown. Just be carefull, it is leopard country!

It had changed very little when I was last there in Dec 2011 / Jan 2012 !

There is now an additional sign ...

If you go there after 23 Sept the area will be devoid of litter .

While it is still as it is I will consider it as the best lookout of all - remember a new entrance gate is planned to the west which will threaten the sanctity ...

We visited Thanga twice during our week-long stay in Shingwedzi during May 2012. I just love the place. It was exceptionally dry (for May).

I used the toilet facility while there, but have to admit that I found it a bit scary. Anything - from horrible spiders or even snakes - can hide under those longdrop toilet seats. But it is so much better than having no toilet facilities (like so many other places in Kruger actually in need of such facilities).

I agree with you Stoffel. The one at Makhadezi is similar. The photo of Elsa is great and I cannot think of a better table to have Christmas eggs and juice. Tshanga is a very special place to many I think.
