With the permission of JO I will add a few video's. This video of the Kalahari Tented Camp (Tent number 12) - which is a two bed tent, The 4 bed tents are the same in lay-out ie the sleeping area and the kitchen, there are just 2 extra, lower beds in the room.

Urikaruus!

On stilts, close to a waterhole, creaky wooden floors.....one of my favorites!

The new River Front chalets at Mata Mata!

Very up-market - DSTV, aircon and all. The accommodation is very nice - way past comfortable!

This seems like a silly question but I have to ask it
I have accommodations at Mata Mata for a 2 br riverfront chalet. At the time of the booking there was no availability for back to back bookings for a 1br riverfront chalet so I grabbed it
something has opened up and I am thinking of changing it because of some concerns
In the pop up description of the 2 br chalets there is no mention of a frig, cooking area
Just lounge
These are the highest priced accommodations in camp I can't imagine they wouldn't have a fully equipped kitchen!
Let me know if you have stayed in them or walked through them
Thanks!

Hi Judik..........they do have and it's very well equipped!! The 2 and 1 bedroom chalet's kitchens look exactly the same only difference is the amount of chairs at the table...........

Give a moment and I'll go dug up some photos of both chalets for you.........

Hi Everybody :D

Just been lucky to get 3 nights at Kalahari Tented Camp, 31 Dec - 3 Jan   in a FAMILY DESERT TENT (FDT4).

Last time that we stayed in this wonderful camp, we did not have a view on the waterhole. I would like to make a special request this time.

Any recommendations for a FDT4 with a view on the waterhole? It's summer and with the heat I shall probably be up all night - watching

Thanks  Leana

Hi Leanawel

Hi Leanawel.
What ever you do try to avoid number 8.
It has a tree right in front of it that obscures the waterhole completely.
The waterhole is floodlit now so a view is definately a plus.

Numbers 7 and 9 have good views and are the closest to the waterhole.
I do not know whether they are FDT4 type tents.

Whichever one you get,it is a great camp overlooking the riverbed and also has amazing sunsets.
Enjoy your trip.

 Thanks Roaneric and Enrico

I am going to phone and ask whether 7 or 9 is a FDT4 type and try to get one of them.

I am really quite excited to end 2012 and begin 2013 in the Kalahari desert
