Took this pic on 16 May in my garden at about 17h45. Light was very bad and the pic therefor not very clear.
Is it a Spotted Eagle Owl?
It's presence was given away by a mob of small birds going absolutely ballistic. When I first spotted it it was on our roof and then flew to this palm tree in the front of our garden. I ran for my camera and got a few shots before it was driven off again by the "mob".

Three days ago we had a grey headed bush shrike in a paperbark tree in our garden and then yesterday an immature little sparrowhawk which was totally relaxed and sat watching us for ages. Wonderful

Living as one does, in deepest darkest suburbia, the rarities, unfortunately, don't make too many appearances :(

But I was quite surprised, some years back, to spot a flock of Blue Waxies at the bottom of the garden...... said garden being about three hundred meters from Fourways Mall, traffic jams, dogs, kids etc.

Oh yes, and a Giant Kingfisher. Which was nice 8) .

And these don't make it onto my garden bird list (for those who're checking 8) ) because it was at my previous house :wall:
