Just booked our trip for next year, all bungalows are now listed as non-smoking.
Don't have a problem with this I never smoke in the bungalow, however, does this apply to the verandah/braai area.

You may have a puff at the braai area.

Yep! Nothing better than waking up, making coffee, and sit on the veranda with the coffee and a smoke.
Especially in the Mountain Retreat. *sigh*

Smokers' rights are dwindling.

But in the end it will be a good question.
How will this affect Kruger?
Will they eventually disallow smoking from all the public areas in camps?
Will all accommodation types become non-smoking?
Guess we will just have to sit and see if these laws are passed.

Australia has had a version of these restrictions for a fair while now and are set to be a lot tougher over the next 2 years.
I am not sure but I believe that smoking is very much declining in Australia.
It also helps people give up when cigarettes are $15-20 a packet of 40/50.

Wildtuinman, I would be very surprised given current world wide trends if all public camp areas were not non-smoking within a few years. :hmz:

Actually, I can say quite honestly that here after the initial outcry and claims that banning smoking from hotel bars etc would kill off trade, the changes came in, the smokers adjusted (went outside every now and then  ) and trade has actually improved because a lot of non-smokers came back into the bars and clubs with clean air!

I suggest you smoke with pleasure where ever you like but please please dont exhale :D

Unfortunately ciggie smoke is one of the things I am allergic to so if the room says No smoking I just hope it is otherwise I am in for a really bad time.
If ever i see a smoker I just give them a wide berth .. I have spent weddings sitting outside I cant say please don't smoke that would be selfish .
So I welcome no smoking rooms

Hi, my name is Richard, and I am a smoker.

I gave up for the 4th time on 23 September 2011, and have not wanted a smoke since.

Get your doctor to prescribe a pill and start giving up.

My world has changed, what a pleasure not seeking out a smoking spot when traveling.

pm me for details

It is now a few months that the “no smoking” in the accommodation units rule are in place.
For those who have been visiting Kruger since the rule was implemented - Do smokers in general adhere to this rule?

I must commend the vast majority of smokers who, although probably not too happy with the rules preventing them from smoking in certain places, refrain from smoking there.
