I must agree Mousy! The S28 and Duke junction is a great game viewing area! 8)

Hi

The S 28 for me is always a good road

I saw once a lion in the distance and it raced towards us to grab a baby warthog , all happened in fron of the car

Seen the 3 cheetah brothers many times

Lots of elephant sightings , buffalo , giraffe , zebra etc we see

The 5kms before the Duke Waterhole turnoff coming from Croc Bridge I like to call 'the magic 5 kms"

I drive very slowly and most times see something special

Take this road especially early morning you will see a few predators

the H 4 - 2 can be very unpredicatable , about 6km from the gate there is a hyena den and in the late afternoons we tend to see at least 6 hyenas

Also just before the S 28 turn off from Croc Bridge way , there is a a little waterhole on your left , lions have been spotted there regularly

Going on the 16th , cant wait

Valentines Day this year at the beginning of the S28 near Croc Bridge we got as close as you will ever get to a cheetah :-)

As a little extra he brought his sibling and mom along too

The s28 is one of the best roads to see a lot.
Most people that enter through Crocodile Bridge go up the s28.
Although we do not conform to this, there is logic to going up the S28.
Last year December my girlfriend and I saw a Cheetah and two male lions, went down duke road towards s28). What I find is, if you go where there are no cars and people you will see different sightings, other than a lion just sitting 100 metres in the bush.
That is why we don't often go up/down the s28 a lot.

Fantastic!!! Esto, were you driving on your own or were you on a game drive?

Massimo, the S28 is between Lower Sabie and Crocodile Bridge.

Hi, it was a drive that i will never forget.I have been driving that road over and over to see a cheetah.
But never in my wildest dreams did i think i would see all these animals in on trip.we drove from crocbridge
to lowersabie just after 6:00 and by 8:00 we only needed a lion to complete the big 5 ,but the cheetah and
serval was much better than a lion.
Some more pics

Attached a photo of our cheetah sighting on the S28 between the S137 & S107 turnoff to the Nhlanganzwani Dam @ 16:30. This was taken seconds before it took off in an attempt to hunt down an impala. Unfortunately for the cheetah (and us) it did not materialize.

Hi, that are great pictures. Especially the leopard. We were there in march this year and we took many pictures of the cheetah (just 1 this time... ) in the very same tree as you saw the 2 cheetahs. You can them them on our website www.afrikafotosafari.nl click on Zuid Afrika, then click on the Lion (Kruger Park) and then on Kruger 2012.
So they must visit this tree maybe many times.

Ruud

Wow, that was some sighting Esto, that's exactly why we love this road and you certainly got very special rewards.
I always look at those tree stumps and picture Cheetah on them! 8)

Polargiant also a wonderful sighting!

One of the reasons why I favor the S28 Nhlowa road over the tar road is the hide! (Sorry I cannot remember the name?)

With some extreme luck you might see the Cape Clawless Otters that are sometimes seen here :D

There is always something interesting to see on this road! In the days when I had very minimal interest in birds, this verreaux's eagle owl fascinated me and was a memorable sighting :D

Need I say more?

Enjoy!
