RosemaryH thank you for sharing the good news. Tshokwane picnic spot is a firm favourite amongst Kruger travellers and adventurers  When we past there earlier May some people were preparing breakfast in skottelbraais even though the picnic spot was still closed for repairs, I think it was their own :D . It smelled very good

Thanks for the photos RosemaryH! This is indeed wonderful news! Well done to SANPARKS for the hard work there! I will also be going past there myself in about 3 weeks time and can't wait to see Tshokwane up and running again!

Tshokwane is up and running, though when I was there it was still missing enough tables and chairs.

I am glad that this favorite picnic spot has been re-opened again. Although the flood damage was not good, I guess the facilities have been upgraded. Is the “Boerewors and Pap” back on the menu that they used to serve?

Yes, all back on the menu! But we had a tough decision to make when we were there a few weeks ago and opted for the venison pies (Kudu) with gravy and chips instead. They are being homemade at Tshokwane I believe - a must when you go there!

It sure is open and looking great FYI please make sure to carry some cash with you when visiting the picnic spot seeing that their telephone lines aren't up yet and no card transactions can be done.

I am curious to know if the 'new' Tshokwane looks the same as the 'old' one?

Exactly the same, except that it only has a few tables and chairs. They were all washed away in the floods!

Notice in the toilets at Tshokwane.

Please do not drip dry hands on floor, use paper towels provided( no paper towels )

If no water is the roots ( maybe the tree roots are getting into the water pipes )

I thought this was so funny :D :D
