Was it a HR that told you to remove it because of the color, i might be wrong but if i'm not mistaking most animals are color blind. Please let us not let the yellow ribbon tradition die

I never saw a single one in KNP during 17-21 Feb and none now in Addo over the long weekend!

Rookie, yellow ribbons in Kruger are like a leopard sighting :D . CliveR, Elsa, Klystron, DebM, WendyA, Heksie, Pumbaa and me and SO was all in the park during 17-21 Feb and all flew their yellow ribbons . Maybe the ribbons are a bit to small?? :hmz: .

then we were told to remove it by another as the colour and the flapping was scaring the animals! Maybe some education is needed.

I don't believe this for one moment  . Never encountered this behaviour from any animals and I fly a huge yellow ribbon all the time  .

Sometime peeps forget to pack them-as be the case with me and my Dec trip but another forumite (lovely Carolv) had an extra one and she gave it to me!
Now to help with spotting some forumites you should check under meet & greets the thread 'when will I see your Yellow Ribbon' and the pm Jazil to add you and do as I do-pm the mites you see that are at a camp the same night as you and do some social planning
Now I have a trusty very YELLOW side mirror whenever I visit a park. If you don't see me then I didn't cross your path (they say the roads of the Kruger only cover 4% of the whole park and to spot an animal you have to be at the right place on the right time) maybe it is the same with forumites. Me and WendyA actually sms'd each other and were in the same camp one night but still missed each other :slap: That is sometimes how it works but we can always hope for another trip where we will run into some mites
I had the honor in my last trip to meet EJ (who had a YR)
Mads (who had a YR)
Shi and Bushbaby30 (who didn't have one :naughty: but you should have seen them  so I understood and they actually waved us down)
Bushbaby (who had a YR)
The parks can surprize you sometimes

You mean thank goodness not a lot of people saw us that day...  It was there somewhere but finding it was another story!
We did however meet Heksie and Cheetah2111, bush_baby and Puppy. On this trip we saw Mellory and Holigan on our way into the park (at a leopard sighting) and today I met Jessica whilst making my way to the gate (very slowly I must add!)

My pleasure Heksie!

We are so proud to fly our YRs when in the Park and always try to carry one spare as we have made many a new friend by being able to give a ribbon to someone who had forgotten their own.

Perhaps we have been lucky but cannot recall ever having a trip when we did not meet another YR - even if it was only a quick hello in passing. It has also been the route for us to make some wonderful new friends and we were able to meet up for a drink, BBQ or just a chat on several occasions during our trips last August when we took our grandson, Sam, out to Kruger for the first time and then again when we took our December-Jan trip. Just keep flying your ribbons and believe!!

I must also report that we were asked by more than 1 Honarary Ranger what the ribbon was for (surely they should know!) and then we were told to remove it by another as the colour and the flapping was scaring the animals! Maybe some education is needed.

Hi Rookie,

I also got a strange remark about my yellow ribbon from a Honarary Ranger when camping at Lower Sabie. He knew what it was for but the comment wasn't very flattery.

YEAH!!!

Then we need never take them off. We will be able to greet each other all over the world!!!

Seriously, I had a mite come up to me in Woolies in Canal Walk last weekend ... they asked me if I was on the SANParks forums ... how great is that!

Edit: I should add I was wearing one of my forum cricket shirts.

Now that is a great surprize! I normally wear my YEAR for about 2months after a trip just for some good measure :w:
But haven't been greeted by a fellow mite out of the park!
Me and Wendy and Cheetah do see eachother occasionally (mini meets)
But if I have a mirror sock I'm keeping it on 24/7
