We've been there in August and there is only 1 bathroom. In the middle of the bungalow with the 2 bedrooms next to it.

The kitchen is on the veranda. It is not closed. Have fun. It's great to stay in one of those units.

Had reply from an overseas visitor who stayed there last year, she told me the kitchen is semi-indoor closed on 3 sides but open onto the verandah, which is fine, the pic only shows one side of the kitchen I presume there are more cupboards on the other side, we will be there for a week.
Have been visiting KNP since 2005 stayed at all the camps except Skukuza though we have visited there.

Yes that is true. Its covered from 3 sides. The back is the entry of the bungalow, then you have the 2 bedrooms on the sides. And in front you have the veranda view. The cupboards you see in the kitchen is the only cupboards there is unfortunately.

It is absolutely one of the best views in the whole park. Best sunrise view. Enjoy it while having your coffee and Ouma rusk!

Yes there is a day visitors area as I remember correctly. When you enter the camp it's on your left hand side. We've never used the facilities there, we always go to the viewing deck and sit there.

we are planning to spend our 20th wedding anniversary at Olifants. I have booked a "best river view" chalet for the occasion, and were told that we have unit number 13 (only unit available). Does anyone know whether this unit has a good river view. I really want it to be special.

Unit 13 at Olifants is excellent, we have stayed in it twice and enjoyed every moment.

No 9 is also very good, it is very well positioned.

If 13 is not available, BG3U (107-111) units are more than excellent as well, with 109 as the one you should prefer.
Those units look the other way, towards Olifants lookout, and are far away from the restaurant and reception, nice and quiet.

I am always amazed at the fact that those are overlooked.

How spectacular are the view points in and around Olifants rest camp

Not only are the views from the camp itself stunning but the N'wamanzi lookout and the H1-5 bridge over Olifants river also offer some breathtaking scenery and sightings.

Its always nice to get out the car and stretch your legs after a long days driving. These view point allow you to do just this while offering some unbelievable game viewing in the process. You also get the added bonus of the smells and sounds that come with being in the open bush

Large rivers like The Olifants are the life blood of KNP and there is generally lots of activity in and around the river (depending on what time of the year you are there). Take some time to scan the massive river bank with a pair of binoculars and you are sure to be rewarded.
