Dear Elaine

Yes, it was a relief when comms link to Orpen was restored (temporarily on a generator at repeater site) but at least Orpen can communicate again and the webcam's images are being relayed again.

Regards
Danie, KNP

Warthogs and buffalo

Unread postby Guinea Pig » Sat Dec 18, 2004 3:43 pm

Hi Cerinthe,

Tou're right, those definitely were warthog in the background. We counted 6 of them. Two were right underneath the camera until the buffalo seem to frighten it away. Did you notice the Marabou stork in the background?

Warthogs

No, I didn't see those under the cam  But it was fun to watch the buffalos, at the moment there is a impala in the background, at least I think it is one

THE BIG 5

Unread postby Guinea Pig » Sat Dec 18, 2004 5:31 pm

It's funny, people always go on about lions and leopards, it's great seeing them I agree, but buffalo and elephants are my favourites. Buffalo always come across as dignified old gentlemen even when having fun. I also noticed only one impala. :D

Baby ellies

Unread postby cerinthe » Sun Dec 19, 2004 10:31 am

Same here, I love buffalo. They always look so much at peace, it's difficult to think of them as dangerous. And then, baby ellies are just about the cutest of all :)

Try this webcam

Unread postby Guinea Pig » Sun Dec 19, 2004 12:34 pm

Hi!
I'm sure the guys at Kruger won't mind if I tell you about another webcam which makes for interesting viewing. It's placed at a waterhole in the Kwa Maritane Game Reserve in the Pilanesberg area. A nice feature of this one - you are able to send images to the website as you watch the animals which are then featured in a highlight package for that day. Look at "wildcam.com".
