Does somebody know the answer for the following question :
What was the name of the farm of the first white settler in the central section of the Garden Route National Park ?? :think: :D

I doubt that you will ever get the correct answer. In the early days of the settlers, there were no documents referring to land ownership. It was only during the middle to late 1800's that the vacant land was measured and documented in the various Deeds Offices. In Afrikaans we called it 'Kaart en Transport' (Don't know what the English version is)

I discovered an old 'Kaart en Transport' in an old file in the office. It dates back to 1886 and was written by hand in Dutch. In those days, before the era of the modern roads, most of the transport was done by way of an oxwagon. On the early maps, there was a place where the oxwagons could 'outspan' and this was clearly marked on the map and registered in the Deeds Office. You had no choice but to allow the group of 'trekkers' on your soil.
