Heksie, you're completely correct, it's only the order of importance that's out. It should read:

1) who brings the Amarula?
and
2) Cameras......

Hi Dan, all your questions need answers. As far as I know, some mites might be able to be there early, but we will only be there round about 14:00. Because of personal circumstances, we will have to be back home before the next day's breakfast.

Everybody should bring their own meat for the braai I think, and maybe wood or charcoal or whatever they will need. Then us ladies can supply the salad, bread roles, butter, and what more. That is also what needs to be decided, otherwise all of us will bring potato salad for Africa! (I think that's the easiest to make, that's why I chose it!)

To rent the big lapa costs round about R2 000.00, and should be arranged beforehand. Wendy and Cheeta2111 must tell us where they want us to meet. The bird hide maybe? The place is very popular, so we need some mites to be there early to ensure that we have anough space for our meet.

@ Cheetah: To be "Secretary" of such an important meet is a very high position you know! You don't sound too impressed with your position though? You are keeping count perfectly, and you will stay the Secretary.

I don't think the very expensive bottle will be there, since Picnic is currently in KTP, and haven't posted it yet! If Cheetah brings mine, that bottle will be there, and I am sure SO will bring a spare one/two or three too!

Cameras are necessities! We are looking forward to this meet soooo much! Can't wait!

Dear Secretary, Dear Chairman, Dear Executive, Dear Keeper of Amarula and Dear Jenga Joller......

Being new to the forum and with this braai set to be my first forum fandango, I am not sure of whether the animals (meaning this in a nice way) that are due to attend, like to stoke a fire that would put your average sun-flair to shame or not.......either way, if we are not gonna burn Rietvlei to a crisp I will be happy to provide all the charcoal, firelighters and I will even throw in the matches. I am assuming that there are braai facilities at Rietvlei ????? and that we wont need to bring braai drums ??????

Having morphed to Waterbuck I will now take the title of Fire-ant

........can see someone taking me on about a charcoal fire. I will bring a few bags of wood also.....or is that wasteful use of natural resources? Not sure if forumites just braai with recycled methane gas ??????

Secretary Duty

Dan wrote:Mr. Secretary and Mrs. Chairperson.....

We need plan of attack in following order:
1) How late do you want to start officially?
2) Where do want us to meet officially?
3) Till how late is this going to go on, officially?
4) How many meals are we in for, officially, i.o.w., brunch, lunch and dinner? (Previous time we could almost include the next days breakfast as well... ) And I hate running out of food, drinks or cigarettes. :naughty:
5) You want us to fly ribbons or not?
6) If you want to braai for 21 people, you'll need a bit of wood, who's going to supply? If we do it at the lapa, Rietvlei will most probably give us some, but then you'll have to communicate with them about it.
So...... :|

@Hilda, you're welcome to try and make a potato salad for this lot, but you'll have to buy at least 3 bags of potatoes and 8 bottles of mayo, you haven't seen them eat yet. It’s a “bring your own booze” and “bring your own food” thing. You might well consider bringing a stretcher for when the jenga game start to get serious. :wall: Don't forget your chairs. Remember to bring a jacket for the late afternoon, Rietvlei tends to become a bit cool this time of the year. I think that covers it till we hear from our esteemed organizers? :hmz:

:hmz: :hmz: :hmz:
We must indeed wait for Wendy the wise to answer these deep questions ...
I vote we add Mads to the organising team ... thereby bridging the gap of communication between the Mites and Rietvlei!

Thank you Tannie V :gflower:

2. Who is bringing the Amarula??? VIP

There is growing speculation that a VIP will bring lots of Amarula! Or perhaps it is the person who brings the most Amarula who will be treated as a VIP :hmz:

Is Mads really "on duty" at Rietvlei, or only by way of speaking?

And then there is a heck of a lot of space to braai! You just move the coals over with a shovel and put the grid there! Here is an example (featuring Bush Brat and RoberT

(Tannie V took these photies if I remember correctly!)

That lapa looks perfect Cheetah2111! It is the big lapa that costs R2000,00. This smaller one looks super to me!
