This is one unique but busy road! I've seen plenty of bushbuck, kudu, elephant & hyaena on it! But thats it nothing special, quite a short road. We always prefer going south on the H1-1 onto to the H3...wild dog territory 8)

Apart from all the usual animals, in Feb this year we saw a Leopard, it was initially up a tree right at the turn off to the staff village and then it crossed the road several more times before disappearing into the bushes.

There is a Leopard frequently spotted up a tree on the left hand side between the Lake Panic turn off and the Camp.
I have only seen it once, but a number of people have commented on it.
I wonder if that is the one you saw Elsa.

I love and despair of that road
it holds many memories of arriving
and of leaving

It would not surprise me if it wasn't the same one MM as I have also heard of one frequently seen in that area. :?

The H11 is one of my favourites. Over the years I have seen a lot of general game on this road: baboon, zebra, heyna, kudu, impala, steenbok, duiker, elephant, slender mongoose, vervet monkey, bushbuck, giraffe & warthog.

But 8 November 1999 will stand out as a "highlight day" on this road. On our morning drive we followed 6 wild dog for a distance, and on our afternoon drive we saw 3 huge lion males.

The Hyena den at the Intersection of the H11 and the S1 is apparently still going strong so if you wanna see an active Hyena den then I'd say this is the one to go to.

There are around 10-15 animals in the pack and they are regularly seen walking on the tarred H11 in the afternoons.

That Hyena clan was still looking good in March at the Skuks cricket weekend
The problem with this road is being overtaken all the time by people in a big rush

This 12km stretch is one of my Big 5 roads...
I've seen leopard four times
Lions twice
And the herbivores many times
Even wild dogs twice...
As well as general game. Just a great road if taxis don't rush past you the whole time :slap:

Saw leopard right in the middle of the road just after the Skukuza staff village early in the morning. It was an unexpected treat for us. Then lots of baboons, impalas, buffs, hayena and warthogs.
