Can not wait, it a shame cause this will be our first vissit to Kruger this year must make a plan next year for more vissits. Unfortnatly work come before pleasure.

Next weekend here we come

We were staying in Skukuza from 8 January 2012 to 13 January 2012 and didn't see one yellow ribbon. We had one the whole time. It seems that the ribbon thing is dying out.

Well I suppose if the Mods don't use them, why would Forumites do? I have decided not use it again!

Hope you still fly a ribbon! And if not, still be on the lookout. I met 0 mites my last trip and hope to change that.

TheunsH, I think the yellow ribbon is still working well! We have met 9 Forumites in September 2011 due to the yellow ribbons (which is not even during school holidays)! Don't lose hope, you will find them, sooner or later. Maybe most of the people have left when you were there, due to the schools re-opening on 11 January? People should also contact Jazil to put their names on "When will I see yellow ribbons again" in KNP. We have already made an appointment with Pumbaa & SO to meet at Satara in February, due to the fact that we could see that we were in the same camp at the same time. That also helps a lot. Please change your attitude!

I concur with Hilda and Stark . Yellow ribbons are as scares as great sightings, just keep on looking and fly your yellow ribbon .

Theuns, please don't give up the YRs. We saw several on our August 2011 trip and, more again on our Dec-Jan holiday. We were also asked on several occasions about our YR and, after explaining it all, hope we may have recruited some new 'mites. We did have one funny query in December though. A car stopped alongside us and asked about the YR. I explained it all and then there was a brief pause, when the lady concerned advised " Oh, I thought it meant you could get discounts on hotels and in which case I would have had one"....Enough said!! We had a good laugh about it afterwards though.

Theuns were you driving a VW Combi bus or something similar ?

I was in the park from 6/01 to 13/01 and ensured that I bought some yellow ribbon at Shoprite in Hazyview before I entered the park. In all my travelling through the park I only saw 1 other yellow ribbon which would have been on the 11/01/2012 on I think it was the H1-2 just north of Skukuza and it was on what I think was a VW combi but might be wrong.

Unfortunately I only saw the yellow ribbon as I went past and was too slow to react or stop. I would have to assume that they didn't see my yellow ribbon either though.

Thank you for all your encouragement to keep on using a yellow ribbon. In the past we have met many other yellow ribbons, but I think this year we were a bit unlucky! In any event, I will keep on using a ribbon!

Hi Toddy, on the 11th of January we were in the Skukuza area, but we drove a white VW Jetta. I'm glad there were at least other yellow ribbons around!

To be honest this is how I got hooked on this forum when I visited the park in June last year me and the SO couldn't understand.Whats with these people with the Yellow ribbons on there cars have they got some powers was quite confusing. Then at Skukuza I met one of the rangers there and asked him whats the point of these people driving around with ribbons on there car .And that is what led me straight to this fantastic forum and be assured my next visit in June I will have mine up as well cant wait to meet some of you crazy KNP lovers

Hello anybody home.

Also wanted to know why forumites don't fly their ribbons??

I never saw a single one in KNP during 17-21 Feb and none now in Addo over the long weekend!

I must also report that we were asked by more than 1 Honarary Ranger what the ribbon was for (surely they should know!) and then we were told to remove it by another as the colour and the flapping was scaring the animals! Maybe some education is needed.
