You guys have nothing to complain about...!! My last new bird in SA was on 8 December 2010! And I don't get seasick and have probably done about 30 pelagic trips since then too... It's all relative really... I would love to get another new bird for my SA list, but who knows how long I am still going to have to wait for it... :(

Not that long in the end! :P Well done on that 905 Trevor!

Thanks Lizet! I've decided on a new strategy that seems to work for me now... Every time I feel that it is just getting a little too long between lifers for me, I will moan a little bit here on the forum and then, hopefully, a new bird for me will pop up on my doorstep within the next few days...

Woohoo, I finally got to change my signature...

Here's waiting for that next one...

Your signature answered my question Trevor, I was just wondering if the Little Crake would count as a Southern African species or an International one.
Seems like our new bird guides are all outdated already!

It was actually a FULL lifer for me Jen i.e. it counted for every single list that I have...

But, since I saw it in SA, that's why I put it there in my signature. The world lifers are for those that I have seen outside of SA...

Yesterday, we nearly tripped over a pair of Three-banded Coursers towards the end of our Mphongolo Trail. It was my bird number 699 in Southern Africa... On the drive out we also saw Temminck's & Bronze-winged Courser (and Eland!), resulting in a 3-Courser Wednesday Special!

here among the heavy duties. Please continue
with your excitement.

Two more for me,

I am up to 631with the Limpopo leg of my lifer-hunt behind me. I got the mottled spinetail at the Big boabab tree at Mutale; blue-spotted wood-dove and pink-throated twinspot at the Thohoyandou botanical gardens and orange ground-thrush and green twinspot at Entambeni forest.
