It would be possible; there are a few car rental companies at the Upington Airport and in UPT itself.

Spargish, the trip to KNP is cheaper for those from abroad
For the single flight to Upington you have a return to Nelspruit.
Enough car rental companies at the Airport for the same price the at OT

But , before we talk figures the goal is to try and have the cricket event in the sand, giving those living closer to KTP then KNP the opportunity to have the event on their doorstep. And if decide to go if it will be held in KTP i will make this a small tour of the area. Even include Mokala and Augrabies.

And i have full confidence in Jannie and his team.

Hysterical laughter However, while I am perfectly happy to be a scorer, or whatever else I can help with, for players I have 2 perfectly fit and able children -- one for the ladies team and one for the mens They would love a trip to KTP to play

And -- for all the Jhb guys who are worried about distance -- remember that KTP is marginally closer to Jhb than it is to Cpt We do not simply "pop up" to KTP having to travel for 5 hours or so, as so many do to visit KNP. It is a long way for both camps.....

These three quotes sum it up for me.

KTP - more expensive, further, not a lot of accom.
It will be hard to get Kallis from Punda, Meerkitty from Durbs, me from JHB, Spargish from Jhb, Anri from PTA and other young Mites to attend.
A vote is fair. And if KTP wins the vote then we do it there! And we make the best of it!
But the 'giving CT mites a turn' is going to cost us interest in young members who are keen for cricket in Skuks. Eish

Guys I hear so much negative, here are a few points for the event to be held at KTP
- There is plenty of accommodation at KTP both inside and outside the park both VERY affordable
- Getting to the park, the CPT mites do not have a problem driving the 1000 odd km to the park why is it a problem for the Gauteng mites? You can fly in to Upington a mere 260km from the park and believe me it is a VERY easy and save road to the park from Upington. There is also plenty of car hire places in Upington.
- The playing facilities are in the red sand and so much fun no chance of grass burns. The pitch is fantastic and the outfield surprisingly fast.
- The weather is fantastic that time of the year. Nice and warm but not so that you will pass out and the evenings cool down for all to enjoy.
- The picnic facilities for the braai will have more than enough space for all at the event. And as for the gala evening a guaranteed unique experience as only the Kalahari people can host
- KTP may not have Elephants, Rhino or wild dog BUT the Cheetah sightings are out of this world and you have not seen a Lion until you have laid eyes on a Kalahari black mane lion.

The community is so eager to welcome guests to the Kalahari and they are such a friendly and accommodating bunch of people they will do everything in their power to make sure the event is a success and that people leave the KTP with fond memories.

Why is every one so afraid of change? And why do so many believe that the guys at KTP can not host such a big event with success?

This poll is very neck in neck.

Rooisand Klonkie, thank you for your post, but I just want to know where you have read that anybody believe KTP can not host such a big event? As far as I could see, there was never mentioning something like that? All I could see was posts like this: Please correct me if I missed a post ?

To me voting and commitment are one and the same thing Scipio...my vote was one of the first in....
It was just not accompanied by a lot of "hot air"

I voted for the KTP not because it is my most favourite place on earth but because I do feel that they( KTP, surrounding parks, employees etc) should be given a chance to host the cricket as well. Clearly the KTP feel they can host this event otherwise the vote would not have been necessary......

There are mites that cannot get to Kruger and there are mites that cannot get to Kgalagadi so I do not think that that is a reason to vote against or for a venue. That to me is just a selfish vote......
