After my initial post a bunch of youngsters camping near us returned from somewhere around 12pm I think and has a drunken party until a neighbour eventually successfully got them to go to sleep.
Too much to go into, but after having to negotiate with fellow campers at Letaba as well as Satara over loud music in the previous days we were just not in the mood for more confrontation. I must say that at Letaba the duty manager responded quickly and sorted the problem out for us.
You just wonder.... :wall:
But after our not so nice night in Skukuza we were allowed to transfer to Berg en Dal for our last two nights. I've never been there before and it was lovely. It restored our faith and made the Kruger trip special.
Back home now and rearing to go to Kgalagadi for the lambng season... :D

Well I sure hope that you have a peaceful experience there in May Grantissy :D
On the first page of this thread is the number to dial in case of the noise you describe.
But hopefully, the only sound that will keep you company at night is the bushbabies and hyena

Just to support what C21111 has said - please do report incidences as they happen to the number provided. And then also do follow up with feedback. This way the complaints are recorded and monitored. See here.

I noted in the last Annual Report the number of complaints received was recorded there.

Good afternoon

We will be staying in Skukuza in mid October. Our trip has gone from 4 days to 8 days (I'm not crying, but I think my bank manager will about this extended holiday  ) Due to the change in plans we will be travelling up and down a bit. Thus we will be staying in Skukuza on seperate occasions during our visit to the park.
We will be staying in a Guest Cottage GC6? Any advise/information - view? Best cottage nr?
And then we'll also be staying in a Bungalow BD3? We booked 2 of these. Yet again - can anyonce recommend specific bungalows?

Thanks
Hanlie

Hi

I have been asked to book for 4 people including myself at cottage over looking the river in Skukuza camp.

There are the following options:
Absa Guest House (GAB)
Moni Guest House (GMS)
Guest Cottage (GC4V)
Nyathi Guest House (GNY)
Waterkant 1 Guest House (GW1)
Family Cottage (GW2)

From the map I see these are all the bigger cottages that fit 4 people and are on the river.

I want to know, which are the best in terms of game viewing?
What are your experiences?

Are all of the above mentioned on the river?

And in your opinion which guest house in the whole of Skukuza would you choose for best game viewing?

Photos would help a lot!

Thanks for all your help!

We've stayed over the years in all of the GC4V. They are really super and on the river.

Two bedrooms, two bath rooms, inside kitchen and sittingroom. Table and chairs outside on the stoep.

It's in a very quiet part of Skukuza and we've seen some animals next to the fence and on the opposite bank of the river. Many evenings you can hear the leopards calling.

Dear Bert,

Yes, the GC4V's are great for 4 persons, bedrooms in my view a little tight, but nice living area with open plan kitchen and verandah. Of the larger ones, Waterkant is nice and private, while Monis is more centrally located with rather superb view.

Best wishes!

Hi Bert

I have been lucky over the years to stay in the following guest houses and cottages, so can advise you.
1) Monis Guest house, great view and centrally situated close to Restuarant and shops but still feel far from the crowds.great for 4 plus people
2) Elsie Clark, super view and the pick of the bunch, great for 4.
3) Waterkant 1 superb view, total privacy, better than Elsie Clark if more than 4
4) Waterkant 2 was ok, no real view, have to go onto Waterkant 1 lawn for view, would pick as my last choice of the above.

All are good units and you will not be dissapointed in any of them.

Enjoy

Im really getting excited!

Have any of you ever seen anything interesting while watching from the cottages?

I have stayed in the GC4V's, Ossendryver and loved the view and sightings from there. :D
Magnificent and humbling experience to have elephants so near that you could actually have touched them.

For the Semi Luxury Riverside Bungalow (LR2W) in Skukuza can you fit 4 people?
1 adult, 3 children?

Thanks

ossendryver, we stayed in most of those, best value for money, the gc4v (#222) and elsie clarke

Depends on the ages of children, but you can only add one extra to a two bed bungalow.
