Hi Welsh_Ash

I just read your trip report...fantastic. The shot of the sabie bridge was stunning.
Pity about the lions though   . But leapard and cheetah sighting ...not too shabby  .
I 'll take that.

Hi All

I'm due to come to Kruger over the Easter weekend, coming up from Cape Town from the 5th to the 10th. I know the flooding was quite extensive and there's been damage. Is it still okay to make the trip? We're booked to stay in Lower Sabie in one of the EH2 huts. Are these still usable?

Thanks for any and all replies :)

All the LS huts were undamaged!

Dear Canis lupis,

Thanks for query regarding Mananga and I have confirmed with Satara that it is currently open. It is usually closed when heavy rains fall in that area.

If there are any other queries, please let me know.

With kind regards.

Hi all

Does anyone knows if the safari tents at LS are fixed already? We will be staying in one of the perimeter tents in a weeks time.

Dear Marijke,

Many thanks for enquiry. No, the damaged tents have not been repaired yet. Please send me your reservation details to joep.stevens@sanparks.org and I will confirm where you will be staying.

With kind regards.

Joep you are fantastic

I have heard that Tsokwane is going to be built in a different spot because its below the floodline. Is that going to happen?

Have a restful Sunday Joep

Can anyone tell me what happens if accommodation is not available due to the flooding in Kruger ?

We have booked two days in a hut in Balule in April 2012 , but it appears that repairs may not be finished by that time .

What happens with our reservations in that case , and do we receive alternative accommodation at the same price :hmz:

We were booked in at Tamboti for the second week of July and we were informed that it would only reopen at the end of July so we changed our booking and we were not given very many alternatives but we were given accommodataion which was more expensive than the accommodation that we had orginally paid for and now we have an outstanding balance which has to be paid by June 2012. I think if SANparks cannot find you the exact same accommodation which you paid for when making the booking in August 2011 can't they give you a discount on the new accommodation that you have been "forced" to take???

Have to agree that seems unfair. Its temporary and everything but the roads should be covered by insurance. They should take the initiative and get people straight swop accom even if it is theoretically more expensive. Surely they will lose a lot more through bad PR and cancelled bookings ????

My suggestion is that the Mods refer this matter to Mr. Joep Stevens for clarification.

 We have asked Lesego to ask Joep to clarify here.

Okie, this was in the last media release on the floods:
Quote:
For Balule and Tamboti, where damage was extensive and reconstruction is expected to take several months, guests with bookings will be contacted in order to change bookings.

And this is also something Joep posted in the Tamboti topic that you could find interesting:- see here.
