Hagners is the No entry road at Nossob which is being used for the game drives and day walks.

The last 24 hours have been absolutely incredible here at Twee Rivieren! Just returned from another epic sunset drive and I had to post about it...

Last Night Sunset Drive:

All the usuals, as well as a Cape Fox being harassed by a group of Bat-Eared Foxes. Also counted eleven African Wild Cats- one even snuck into camp under the gate as we approached. And near Saameoooviieeoovelloooeiing we came across the biggest cheetah i’ve ever seen, half-heartedly chasing some Springhares.

Today’s Morning Drive:

Started with a Polecat close to camp! Then a couple of African Wild Cats and a great photographic opportunity with some Bat Eared Foxes. At one point I thought I saw two hyenas moving across a dune- they turned out to be two very huge porcupines! The first porcupines i’ve seen since starting work here. One excited Moose.

Tonight’s Sunset Drive:

I still don’t beleive all of this myself. Had the same guests as the morning drive, and I think I need to hire them to come out on all of my drives- so much luck!! Started out with the same group of lions we’d seen at Houmoed on Sunday, but this time they were at Saamoooeeiivellooooeeeviiling waterhole. It was great as the guests hadn’t yet seen lions. Then once it got dark, we picked up what I first thought to be AWC by the side of the road- turned out to be CARACAL! It was very relaxed and we watched it for quite a while. It even crossed the road in front of us. Didn’t think it could get any better, but on our way back we had Brown Hyena in the road and it stayed with the car for a while. Ended this amazing drive with another two Polecats!

Morning all,

Moose surely has had some stunning drives.......think we should keep her here.

Twee Rivieren Sightings board.

Cheetah at: Samevloeiing, Kij Kij and Auchterlonie
Leopard at: Kij Kij, Houmoed and Munro.

@Morkel 777

'To be or not to be"................ I would suggest as I look at the sightings board that the southern part of the park (Twee Rivieren area) is pumping with all species of game. Although the highest concentration of game is still on the Aoub River side.

FRESH FROM THE PRESS

I just received the sightings from Nossob and what an AMAZING drive they had.

At Marie se gat they saw 4 Hyena which have just caught a gemsbok (10m from the road) and about 150m away from that kill was another lot of Hyena eating the second Gemsbok they caught.
As if that was not enough, they also again saw the Cheetah with the cubs at Hagners.

I am so jealous....I’m trying to get some pictures.

I have just had a word with some guests staying at Rooiputs last night which experienced a very 'scary' night or early morning.

As per the information I got there was a pride of about 12 lions walking through the camp and they have decided to go and rest close to three tents of three young guys which two of the guys experienced their first night ever in the African 'bush'.

Within the pride there were some cubs and they started to play around getting closer to the tents. One of the cubs started to play with the tent while the English guests was frightened to death watching his tent being used as a play thing, while playing the one lion cub scratched the tent. the poor frightened guy inside took his flash light and shone it into the eyes of the cub trying to get him to go away.

It didn’t work as it only got the large male interested to investigate what was going on. Apparently the guest inside the tent stopped breathing because of the male lion sticking his nose through a gap in the tent caused by the youngsters playing around.
It sounded that the lions lost interest and walked off with the guests packing their stuff and decided they would not stay another night at Rooiputs and booked in at Twee Rivieren.

I know of one person who would have loved to experience such close up of lions........BG.

Here is another who would prefer just one night of that above a week of cocooned comfort in a fenced camp .
