It doesn't count if you tow the Isuzu Down a dune at Campsbay for a pose.

Eish Okie, that pic brings back memories. My first Landy was a Series Landy, and I went everywhere with it. Great pic.

Scipio , and that one took us everywhere too - it was a life-time away

Another one , at Nine Mile reef - note the other Landy's in the back-ground .
We used to swim out through the surf to do snorkeling on the two reefs , the first one about 400 meters offshore , and the other about 800 meters out .
Nowadays they have "guided " tours with scuba from boats .

Okie , thats how I remember Sodwana - though since when I first visited back in 1976 it had probably been modernised & expanded compared with your pictures . In 1976 Mbazwane was the closest store , no electricity , a handfull of divers with their own compressors ... good memories .

Ndloti You are bringing back more memories . Mbazwane was also the closest store in 1963 with a single sand-track leading into the bush to the sea . We were probably the very first divers diving there - Sodwana bay , nine mile reef with it huge sand dunes , 14 mile reef , Mbibi which you could only reach driving on the beach at low tide , and where you had to "storm " the dune at very high speed , and even help to push the Landy uphill , then around the back of the dunes visiting Lake Sibiya - the largest natural fresh-water lake in South Africa .

TBH was registration for Nelspruit .

Last time I was there during easter weekend 1996 I stayed in a rustic chalet at Baya camp at lake Sibaya , very peacefull indeed - drove a Mitsubishi Colt V6 and went to Mbibi for a day and also spent the day at a spot about 30 min drive south of Sodwana .
These days Sodwana is so overcrowded you need a permit to access the beach .

I believe there is even a Protea hotel or something

I prefer to remember what I experienced , rather than to regret what I may see if I go again

We hired a Triton 3.0(petrol) 4x4 for the weekend, well with the overall bakkie there are nothing wrong.
Comfy ride,drive soft on gravel roads and handling on tar is very good. But the fuel avg. was a 7km/L (530km was on tar with a avg. speed of 110kph and 670km was an gravel with a avg. speed of 40kph)
Don't think I'll buy one of them. Maybe the 3.2(diesel) version could be a more economical choice.

Picnic, did you take it into any offroad situations?
