Hugh was it not maybe at Satara? I know that they have services on Sunday evenings where they usually show the films.

Why not find a quiet spot at a picnic site or get out point and do your own mini service. It is the attitude and worship that counts.

Each has it's own unique value.

As far as I know there is a special Easter service every year in the bush in the Letaba area as well.

Hi there - some advise please. We are staying at Skukuza later in the year. I am looking for BEST view possible - I think it is between LR2W (SEMI LUXURY RIVERSIDE BUNGALOW ) or GC4V (Guest Cottage)
any suggestions which option to go for?? many thanks in advance

I have stayed in both. The LR2W is located west of the restaurant, while the GC4V cottage is lower down on the bank of the river to the east side of Skuz.

My opinion is that both have almost the same view on the river.

The GC4C is a very nice cottage with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms en-suite, big patio and braai on the grass. We had a wonderful stay there. On the other hand, the LR2W is a unit with one bedroom, big bathroom, patio with a modern built-in braai on the patio. It is much smaller, but very stylish and modern. It was very nice to stay there too

But again the view on the river is the same

Hello to all.

We are newbies to the forum so hope we are posting in the correct place.

We are travelling from Australia, and in April will be coming for our second [but not last] stay in KNP. We have booked four camps over two weeks and cannot wait. Our last stay was only for 5 days, when we stayed in Lower Sabie and Satara bungalows.

My question relates to the cooking facilities in the LR2W [semi luxury riverside] bungalows at Skukuza. We are hoping to do quite a bit of self catering this time and at all camps have booked bungalows with kitchens again. However on looking at photos of the LR2W kitchens it appears that some do not have stovetop/ hotplates which we would need for cooking and heating food. There appears to be some kind of oven in the wall but not quite sure, also we are not quite sure if there are utensils, crockery, pots and pans etc provided in these bungalows.

The other camps we have booked do mention all these items so it just a little confusing, can anyone please enlighten us on this.

We stayed in one of the Semi Luxury riverside jobs last yea at Skukuzar, and as already said they definitely have hot plates and a braai.

I must just say that for the money you don't really get any more facilities than a standard bungalow, other than it was a bit bigger, and had a TV, which I DID NOT want!! That is not what Kruger is about in my opinion.

We also had no wardrobe!!! Not a huge problem, just weird, as the standard ones all have wardrobes.

Having said that, the river view with all the animals coming and going was amazing!!

Grandmissy, I think it has something to do with BEDS?

If you study the accommodation list of Skuz, you will see that the beds in the 2 bedrooms are not the same.

I also think that the GC6 / GC6D can accommodate up to 6 persons.

If you are not sure, ask reservations

As far as I know the D stands for a double bed in one of the bedrooms whereas the other will only have single beds.

Hi all you avid campers...

We will be camping at Skukuza from 1st - 9th June. This will be our first stay at Skukuza and reading all the threads re: Skuks it looks like it will be awesome

We have booked 3 campsites (just in case) as there will be 2 conqueror offroad trailers and 2 rather large tents. (8 peeps in total).

I am calling on all the experts to advise on the 3 most level & shadiest camp sites in a row. Preferably next to the fence but anywhere will do. (Will just be awesome to be back in KNP ) The most important criteria is for the 3 sites to be next to each other.

Are we able to request specific site number through reservations (like you can at Tsendze)?

I eagerly await your suggestions...

You cannot request specific camp sites for Skukuza ... it is a 'choose from what is available' camp. There are many level camping areas, under shade, but not really next to the fence. The sites next to the fence are on a bit of a slope, and we have a Conqueror Commander, and it was strained to get level Just back from the fence though there are level sites, on terraces, and you might be lucky to get three together. Early June is not yet school holidays, so I advise you to try get to the camp around 9am ... by then most who are moving out that day have left and there is the biggest selection of sites available.

Thanks for your words of wisdom... pity we cannot pre-select sites . Will take your advice and get to the camp for 9 am. Of course it does mean leaving Jo'burg before the birds awaken

Already counting down the nano seconds until our trip.....

The early start will be worth it, I promise ... and more time in KNP
