Thanks for the pictures, bondm and Joep,

I will be at Mlondozi shortly and will post a picture of the water level now there after our return

The water level at Tshokwane must have been incredible - I think after seeing these everybody will understand now the incredible damage there a bit better

:gflower: Thanks for all the info in your blog Leigh, great reading and great pictures. The info about Balule is very heartening. I really hope the campsites will be open by May as we are booked there.

When I was in Kruger in March 2010 I was most disappointed that there was major construction going on along the Olifants River, the S90 & S91. I started a thread in the Indaba section but it appears to have been deleted.

I was told that the purpose of the wier was to build some sort of monitoring system that would serve as a warning system if a flood should occur and would allow the authorities to be able to monitor the river level etc.

How effective was this in light of the recent floods?

Dear All,

Thanks for all the queries from everybody. The scheduling of the repair projects still has to be finalised, so we are unable to provide a date for reopening. I hope this will assist until we have more information with dates, once planning has been finalised.

All the best with the planning and the implementation Joep and the staff, our thoughts are with you

Could have had a nasty surprise on that loo if the floods arrived quite quickly...you wouldn't have needed the loo paper! (Or you would've needed a whole lot more - depending...)

Goodmorning from freezing Holland!! (some places minus 20C  )

First of all, thanks a lot to all the updates from the Sanparks-guru's.
I read them all and it is hard to believe what has happened in Kruger.

But the last update is alreay a while ago.... nothing has changed in between? No other gravelroads re-opened again??
Is Byamiti Weir open again?? and Lake Panic??
