Good day fellow good people!

Please will someody be so kind to tell me if one can enter Augrabies from the north (i.e. the N10)
or can one only enter it from the south - through Kakamas?

There are a few gravel roads running North/South from the N10 down to the N14 past Riemvasmaak / Khamkirri, all connecting the N10 between Kakamas and Augrabies again.

You should however ensure you have a GPS with T4A maps as these roads mostly do not have signage and you will not be able to know which turnoffs to take as they are not running straight from North to South.

I did it once before the other way and got grossly lost - using paper maps.

And you could end up on the North bank of the Orange River, and the park entrance is on the South bank.

Exactly, and that's why I said if you do not have a GPS with T4A maps at least, you can get horirbly lost in that area.

thanks a lot! i am planning a trip to the Fish River Canyon and want to stop over at Augrabies but don't want to drive all the way back to Kakamas before getting onto the N10 again... so now i wonder is there a gate on the northeren boundary of Augrabies?

It does not seem like such a long drive back though...

I'm pretty sure the onty tourist entrance is on the southern bank.

Yes, Augrabies only has the one entrance gate to the south.

If you however take the N14 through Kakamas towards Upington, just outside Kakamas after you crossed the river (approx. 2.5km from Kakamas), there is a road turing out left to Lutzburg. That road runs North towards the N10 but just before the N10 you have to turn right (approx. 47km from Lutzburg) and then again left (approx. 4.5km from the previous right turn) and then you will hit the N10 after another 11 kms.
