This looks scary - really hope that everyone and everything stays safe - must be horrific being there now... Our thoughts & prayers to all - especially the tortoises... Hopefully the poachers can't swim !

I hope everyone in the park, from STAFF and GUESTS are safe and sound.

I hope that there are not too many animals lost due to this.

I just heard from my neighbour about Hoedspruit being closed down (she heard it over the radio) and I see THIS on the forums! I really hope that it will not be the same as in 2000.

Yes poor Tortoises! And sadly, also poor white Rhinos as they cannot lift their heads very high, so if they attempt to cross floading rivers they usually dont make it

We have received 172mm at the Phalaborwa offices (in Kruger Park) since 5am yesterday. Still possible to get to Letaba Camp, but road between Letaba Camp and Olifants Camp is flooded at certain parts.

Our weather station on road to top of Mariepskop Mountain (Mpumalanga), at 1300m altitude, has recorded 415mm between midnight and 1pm today!

To all of you in the affected areas Please be careful. lets pray that damage and loss of animals is minimal. Does all this water increase the malaria risk?

My thoughts and wishes are with everyone in the Kruger. Be careful and above all be safe.

The awesome power of Mother Nature is truly devastating and marvelous all at the same time.

I really hope that the animals big and small are not seriously impacted by these floods.

Maybe check with Sabie Park. I know the lapa at Kruger Park Lodge (timeshare) is underwater
