Sjoe....I'm supposed to be holidaying in Kruger at Lower Sabie for the weekend. I assume we now have to enter at Malelane or do we go at all?

More pics coming in. Hyena hiding under a roof at Afsaal. Sabie river a torrent mass of water. Unbelievable really.

Ja-nee, look. The photos I am getting on Facebook and Twitter and email shows big trouble.

Good luck to everyone in Kruger right this very moment and good luck to everyone needing to go there soon. Hope it isn't as bad as what the photos show it to be.

Last time I saw images like these was with the 2000 floods.

2 differences this time though - the levels from 2000 are in memory so warnings should be given in time for evacuation if needed, and also it has been a very dry season here so far, so the water table is generally low and the water will be able to subside quicker once the rain stops.

Amazing and scary images coming through, I just hope the rains don't continue on too long or there is not more heavy rain following on top of the already high levels, then the damage is always that much worse.
Please take care all those in the park.

Ah, ok. I feared that Shimuwini was in trouble and I see that it is now in fact closed. Thanks Foxy.

Hopefully just for precautionary measures.

This must be the most members and guests looking at a single thread at the same time.

The floods look similar to 2000. If the roads between Letaba and Satara are closed then the Olifants river must also be in flood.
