Yes we got married at Biyamiti lookout point on 16th Feb last year.
Just got back from 3 weeks in the park and we still say as do all our guests that it was the most unusual and magical wedding ever.

If you want any advice or help please just PM me.
I have all the contact details of everyone that helped and believe me it was no hassle at all.

Just wish we could do it again. :D

Getting married IN Kruger? Help and advice welcome

Unread postby blackswift » Tue Feb 23, 2010 5:11 pm

Hello

Has anyone ever had a simple marriage ceremony in the Kruger park? I’m not talking white dress and the works, I really do mean simple.

I tried asking our travel agent who didn’t help us in the end and until I found this forum the whole idea was shelved
But I thought I’d give it one last stab on here.

The idea we have is to come to Kruger for two weeks, then one morning get up, get married by a watering whole or something like that (in our shorts) and then carry on with the rest of our day. We really don’t want fuss and neither can we afford the works, but that not the point.

Has this ever been done, or am I simply barking up the wrong Baobab tree? (Actually a baobab tree would be a lovely place to get married under lol)

Our daughter was married in Skukuza a couple of years ago - the local minister/pastor officiated in a simple (not religious - but moving ceremony) at the lapa next to the restaurant on the Sunday before going to attend to his usual duties.
We had a lovely brunch also in the lapa just for the immediate family (16).
The lapa was beautifully set up on the one side for the ceremony and the other for the brunch and the bridal flowers and few table arrangements were fabulous - all done by the guy working at the nursery at the time (so sorry to forget his name - he did a wonderful job - everything discussed on the phone).
The cost was extremely reasonable - especially the flowers!!
All the arrangements for the minister etc were made by phone direct with the admin staff at Skukuza but we did confirm in person when we arrived at Skukuza a couple of days before the ceremony.

Goose, you could always book a a private sunset drive - other forum members will know if this is possible but don't see why not.
That is, just the four of you - might be a bit pricey though.
Then at least you could arrange with the guide to stop somewhere really secluded and pretty at sunset and bring out the champagne and snacks and pop the question?

Busy time of year, so doubt that you would find a picnic spot that you could hope to have all to yourselves.....

The other spot during the day is perhaps the Hippo pools along the gravel road towards Croc bridge - perhaps you could pre-arrange with the guide for a mid-morning spot and then set up the champagne there?

Any way your friend does it will be special I am sure - how could it not be!!

Hi there All

I am so so excited, only 3 1/2 months to go until my dream Kruger wedding.

Can anyone help with a name of a pastor that may be able to come out to Olifants?

Leighvlasso - try Dr Eduan Naude. He married us in a restaurant in Pta! Nice and informal if you want but still all the right vows said. The number I have for him is 0126643445. Please let me know if you come right!!!! :D

I have a friend who is the pastor of a Baptist church in Lyttleton Manor and another from Rosebank. They are both bilingual and love the bush. A third (English speaker) is in KZN and doesn't need much if an excuse to get to the bush.

PM me if you are interested.

There is a resident Minister in Skukuza who might travel up there. Why not phone Skukuza camp Manager and get his name and number.

Wedding in Kruger

Unread postby Rateljie » Thu Jan 12, 2012 7:44 pm

Hi everybody, wonder if somebody can help me!
We planning to get married this year and want to spend our honeymoon in Kruger for 3 weeks, travelling the whole length from north to south.
we thought it would be very nice to get married in the park.
Unfortunately the wedding-packages are all quite expensive and it wont really work for us, as its just me and my fiancee without any guests attending.
I know that there is a chapel in Skukuza, so clearly there is a pastor which could marry us?!
Just need to get 2 witnesses there ;-))
So does anybody know of a pastor in Kruger or one who can meet us inside.
What are our options??
All ideas very appreciated.

Wedding in Skukuza

Unread postby Clairey » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi there
I recently got engaged :k and we are looking at getting married in the Kruger Park next year, specifically in or around Skukuza.
I have been searching high and low online for who the correct person to contact is in this regards but have had no luck.
The email addresses in the previous threads regarding weddings in the Kruger on this forum seem to all be outdated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D
