Hi there

Is there anyone who knows if you can leave Agulhus Camp for dinner? It will be our first night in SA and if we can help it we don't want to stop for too many supplies that day ....... ok,I confess, the bottle store will be visited  but if we can get away with going somewhere for dinner that would help us!

Caracal, I know you stayed there a while back - do you know?

Thanks :D

Hi Issy

As we were not going to leave camp I did not really take note of the gate closing time. I have in fact just made a phone call for you...the gates are manned 24 hrs so yes you may leave the camp for dinner. The offices are in Agulhas itself and are only open until 17h00. Make sure you check in and collect your keys before that .
Enjoy !!!

Thank you. Thanks to your help we've decided to stay where we can see the sea, wont be until October/Nov. Followed one of the links and we're going to try to get Drifwood by Dallene Matthee, as its set in the area, but as its out of print in UK we'll try to pick up a copy at JoB. airport in August on out way to or from Kruger. This made me think of something I read elsewhere in the forum re Parks shops; we enjoy reading fiction set in an area we're visiting/visited, I expect many others do too. Satara sometimes has something to tempt us. Once again thanks

Just spent the past few days at Agulhas.

a new small wooden camp, accom for 2 R840ish per night. Looks lovely but where is it? The nearest I think I got was to put coordinates for Aghulus Gate into google earth maps. Is it near there and if so are there views of the sea?
These are very close to the sea - to a lovely safe swimming lagoon in fact, and have a nice view of the sea.

It looks as if soon the new Reception area will be opened and this is in the park, close to the camp of wooden cottages. It also looks like there will be a small shop there.

There is a bottlestore and winebar in Agulhas itself, with some nice places to eat at. The local shop also seems well stocked if one wants to guy some self catering supplies.
