Some of us have that one Camp in Kruger that we re-visit because it never lets you down.
In this sense the Camp which stood my test over time is Shingwedzi because it has a distinct old world charm and mood and it has always produced good sightings for us in the surrounding area.
The majestic old trees along the Shingwedzi River which are to be seen from the coolness of the Shingwedzi Restaurant veranda also add to that brilliant feeling of being in Kruger.
Over time and after many Kruger visits Shingwedzi has done and still does it best for me

No matter what I have said about Skukuza in the past, I still love it and it still brings back lots of fond memories! :D

Nowadays we tend to stay in the more rustic camps like Tsendze and Tamboti. but we always try to end our trip with a night in Skukuza! :D

Undoubtedly it must be Shingwedzi for me. It must be the great sence of peace and calmness and the feeling of being close to nature.

Shingwedzi. I just love the camp and the area around it. I've never had a disappointing stay there, I love the bungalows and the camp staff from receptionists, cleaners, and in the shop and restaurant have always been welcoming.

BB that suits me fine – we should actually keep quiet about Shingwedzi  . I therefore think TheunsH indicated a very good choice. On a serious note I think Skukuza is a great camp. We recently stayed there for three days and we had a very good time indeed . But my favourite will always be the S one that has the second letter a H and not a K and I will always remain faithful to the H one :D.

My vote also go for Shingwedzi, although I do love Punda, Letaba and Satara as well.

Balule without a doubt followed by Berg-en-Dal
I love the real bush feel of Balule and the walking trail around the perimeter of Berg-en-Dal. It was on this trail that I became interested in birds. There was a huge variety in the immediate vicinity of this trail.

Somebody's gonna ask you where it is on a map Rusky.

And I say follow the clues below (courtesy Rosemary H on taradiddle)

PL

I have thirty of one and of others I have ten
Considered by many an absolute gem and around me there is always a tree or
pen!
Just to claim a place in this amazing den.

To a graceful flyer I too am it’s home
And when using my tree, it’s never alone
For the francolins and guineafowls too have a feast
When I’m not burning and being a beast!

Now plenty has been written and I am sure you have read
How the man of religion suggests you go elsewhere instead.
But I smile and I chuckle and never get sad, for it is his way of having a bed.

And there’s that serval that loves me, for my peace and my quite,
And has told you of his sleep, under the stars here at night.
With hyena and lion abound here at night he could be in for one hell of a fright.

Like the man from down under who thought I was haunted for sure
And impressed by the lady who sings while doing her chores
He just came for a ramble but now he wants more!

As the sun starts to set over this place of little mortar
The baboons will return from the cliff, along the bitter water,
Bringing with them their sons and daughters.

The abundance of Bushbuck may stop for a drink … but where?
For they once were assured it will always be there.

Now you know and I know it isn’t the case
But still there will be good sightings from this little place!

The footprint left in the sand
is nothing like the footprints left in my soul.

The sand
is constant movement
constant change.
It lasts just for a moment,
fleeting and gone.

My soul,
what has been touched
and shaped by awe

lasts forever

for both soul and love
are eternal.

Taken in the sand in the camp that is not for sissies.
