Ha! Fancy meeting you here Massimo. (ODP - Shearwater.)

Pity you aren't coming up to Phalaborwa. We have a den with 14 strong hyenas - 3 generations. Can't say about down there in the south though. I love nothing more when guests enjoy sighting there watching these guys. They are so interactive and a real treat. Good luck!

Hi Massimo

I was there last week and saw den on the dirt road going to Berg-en-dal from Pretoruiskop, think its called the h2-2 (Voortrekker road). About 10km before Afsaal close to the streams running over and under the road.

On the fayi loop around P'kop others have also seen a den - I wasnt so lucky

On our June trip to Kruger, we also saw a den close to skuks, about 2 km from skuk, on the road going to Kruger gate. And another one on the small dirt road going to Transport dam, but we didnt saw any activity last week...

Hi Massimo,

there is a hyena den on the Gomodwane loop S130. I saw them this weekend. There was also a den on the tar road not to far from the northern entrance of the S130

Hi there Massimo,

Yeah, for sure next time you are up give me a shout. Btw, we have a hyena den up here in Phalaborwa with up to 16 individuals at times. The number seems to fluctuate but that is the most I have seen there at one time. :D

There used to be a hyena den on the Phabeni, Skukuza road intersection. I have seen Hyena there a number of times. Sadly, not recently due to my infrequent trips, but it was always a favourite place for finding youngsters.

taken this time last year on the Phabeni road close to the S65 turn off. Hyenas do tend to stick around, so pehaps you can meet the next generation.

Hi there Graham. It is on the H14 intersection with the S131. Nice thing about them is they are quite active during the day around their den. Going there tomorrow so will report back on them with some pics.

The Hyena clan is still hanging out at the river crossing close to Skuks on the Paul Kruger road
Heksie showed me the den right next the road in a ditch. Are they sleeping there at night? Or does someone know where that den has moved to?

That Hyena clan has been there forever

Another favourite place we have seen Hyenas den in the past is at the junction of the H11 and the S1 under the culvert.

There is also one on the H9, 1km from letaba.

I get daily reports of about 9 hyenas and pups everyday!
