Morning guys...

Sorry to be the one to inform you but we have just confirmed that Steven Whitfield had an accident with one of the Bantam aircraft.

Information is scetchy at present but he is doing ok as far as we know. he is currently in hospital and will be for a few weeks more. He has cracked one of the vertebra in his back.

As soon as we have more clarity I will give details.

He is in the Mediclinic in Nelspruit.

Steven was taking the bantam aircraft in to Nelspruit for servicing. When he approached the Legogotle Mountain near Numbi gate he saw that there was clouds in that area which was too dangerous to fly through. He decided to land on a nearby private landing strip.

He flew over the landing strip to check the safety of the surface but as he approached the end of the strip he noticed power lines across the strip. He put full power and turned as steeply as he could to avoid the power lines. The Bantam stalled and he dropped out of the sky onto the landing strip and some Macadamia trees.

Luckily the farmer had heard him approach and was running out to warn him about the power lines when he heard the crash so he was on the scene of the accident within a few minutes.

Steven sustained serious injuries. He is heavily sedated and on pain control medication in hospital. He is lucky to be alive and should there have been a fire it could have been much worse. He is able to communicate. He is in good spirits and sees his parents and kids regularly.

Thanks Imberbe. I will go make a turn by him sometime in the week. Don't wanna go right now. Just waiting till he feels up to "non family" visitors.

I will let know as soon as I have some more update.
