Does anybody know if there are ablutions at the Bontebok campsite and if so, are they in good condition?

 And just in case you need a third opinion..........agree one hundred percent with previous posts........Ablutions superb, camp-site awesome - maybe if you are lucky you might even have Bontebok come and graze in the campsite - and some good walks / hikes too!

Welcome to the forum Vm.

I found the new campsite ablutions in Bontebok to be the best I have ever been in, in any SANpark. The shower cubicle was a bit small, but on the other hand, I am not.

I see the different types of campsites are back at the availability page of Bontebok
I just wonder do you get a number allocated or is it like it has been first come first serve and picks the best spot?
The sites that says riverview are those the one down next to the river (again)?
or is the layout of the camping totally changed since I visited it last year?
Thanks

I have not camped there but a friend says the camp sites close to the river are very cold and rather take those higher up - away from the water. Evidently the ones close to the river don't have power?

If the river site has been re-opened, it is true, they don't have power nor any demarcations, it is/was a free for all.

I was there at the begining of last month and there were no sites by the river, but if it is on the accommodation booking, then it must be open...........perhaps for high season?

Dear All,

The rivierside campsite has been opened for the holiday season. They are right next to the river but unfortunately there is no power points available. It is usually booked on a first come, first servedd bases.

If you prefer a camp site with a power point they are available on the upper banks of the river, about 100 meters from the river, but they mostly have no river view.

For more information about the riverside camp sites please contact our office on 028 514 2735.

Kind Regards,
Marloise

Bontebok is a great place to wander around and look at plants, birds etc that you would normally drive past.
The campsite is peaceful, and spacy.
The river offers a good swim, but don't think of the Zambezi's downstream
